Minor league baseball is a truly terrible life.

What a truly, truly, stupid thing to say. You obviously don't know shite about Professional Baseball.

Take it from somebody who played professional baseball, he’s right. You make shitty money, you eat shitty food and half the sleep you get is in a strange hotel room or on a bus. When the season is over you have to take a shitty job for 4-5 months just to pay your bills because it’s only temporary until spring training starts. As a player, your employer owns you. You have no leverage to seek employment with a competitor. Your job is pretty much on the line every day and you can be terminated for any reason - including if your employer views you as too old to have a future in that business.

Yep this guy knows his stuff. I took a 94mph pitch in the ribs from Z in a playoff game.

Mr Clean, this was in that Kaplan playoff game.

Don’t sell it because no one will buy it.

I get what you're saying but it comes down to love of the game. I played softball, shot skeet and climbed at a high level and can relate to anyone who wants to live the life to play. You make sacrifices and hopefully have something to fall back on later. Not too difficult in America to do this if you're smart, talented and resourceful.

La Tigresa! So well stated! I wish I had your talent for clarity!

I've been working in/on Professional Baseball for longer than you've been alive, Sally. Maybe you can fool some TD posters who don't give a shite one way or the other with your bullshite, but I'm not having any. Solely for the entertainment of my good TD brethren I will piss a little farther than you.

if you have been working in pro baseball that long you would know minor league baseball is miserable. Especailly rookie and lower A. plus every coach wants to make tweaks to you to make a name for themselves.

quote:

Again, probably not true but even if it is so what? I'm gonna guess you're talking about former Tigers but your name isn't Ben or Skip or Pawl or Anthony or even Smoke. So, all these dudes have told you MILB life sucks? I doubt it, they're playing baseball trying to make it to the Bigs. You sound like a fringy little bitch that enjoys negative vibes. Oh, wait! Now I get it---maybe one or two of their wives have told you that!?!?!

are you really trying to argue that minor league ball doesnt suck and many are stuck there for years especially when many are getting injured so often.

quote:

So the MILB quality of life has prohibited them from advancing their lives when they leave MILB? Sounds to me like if anybody is disappointed in their past and present life path---and not doing shite about it---it would be you.

for many....yea. Even if they finished their degree they are 5 and sometimes even 10 years behind in starting. Most that do the minor league thing do not finish the degree.

Im pretty sure you are 100% full of shite about working in Professonal baseball. But if you are telling the truth....well you perception is warped.

Has nothing to do with "love of the game" eventually you want to have a family and nice things. Unless you make it to the show and get a big contract....yea its gonna suck trying to support a family while in the minors especially lower level.

Can't say I know who that is. Don't think I've read of his posts. I have always been Pro Side but do know quite a few Amateur Side guys. After the Draft, a lot of Clubs will use Amateur Side guys to Eval (mostly) starting pitchers. It's possible we've met if he's done any pro side work.

True of any professional sport, especially true in baseball. Hitting Major League pitching consistently is most likely the most difficult thing to do in all of sports.
