There are 5 P5 conferences
What if we had 5 undefeated conference Champagne
What if we had 2 undefeated and 3 1 loss teams

Because it will be given to Bama in any case.

If you have 8 teams then a loss by like Bama or Clemson in the CG wouldn't have mattered so if you can make all the games relevant then yes. Like the first round the 1-4 seeds get a Home Game. Then 8 would be good

The title of this thread is a symptom of exactly why I argued against ANY kind of playoff system, at all, in college football.
Because no matter how many teams you let in, you'll have the next group of teams, who are left out, complaining that the system is rigged against them and that there should be more teams. It never ends. Just look at the 68 team basketball tournament. At least basketball is a sport conducive of playing a
lot of games in a short period of time.
But you can't do it in football. You can't ask unpaid amateurs to play long tournaments in such a physical sport. There are too many teams to be able to go by best records, which means you have to go by strength of schedule, and teams will get left out in the cold, claiming as they always do that there is a bias for the power conferences.
I'm not denying that networks and the NCAA, itself, have a built in bias toward the more prestigious schools, for monetary purposes, but that doesn't mean that the system is rigged to ensure that the little guys don't get in. The little guys don't play anybody, period, end of story.
Because of all of these things, you will never make everyone happy, and so it's better to leave well enough alone.

What if you were gay and didn’t care about college football?
Read my lips.
Strength of schedule counts.
The BCS worked.
The 4 team playoff is working.
What else do you want?
And the obvious answer would be to leave out the pac 10 team.

I’m if you aren’t a conference champ you shouldn’t be playing for the national championship.
Posted on 12/28/18 at 7:27 pm to Rohan Gravy
The BCS clearly didn’t work.
You’re wrong
You 4 team playoff isn’t working.
And it will be replaced.

As long as NotreDame is a given, it is no better. They are a legacy team if they are not atrocious.

Here's what I think:
4 Regional Conferences (North, South, East, West) of 2 Divisions each, 8 teams. That's 64 teams. Final four teams are from championship games. Bowl games are set up for inter-conference games.

BCS
Top two teams in the country played each other to decide the National Champions in a National Championship game.
Only one “gray” area.
Auburn.
4 Teams fixes that.

This sounds crazy, I know, but I think there needs to be another division. The power 5 conferences be its own division and the "mid majors" be its own division.
Go 16 team playoffs for each division. First round that is 8 games (16 between the two division), second round is four games (8 between the two divisions) the third round is two games (four games between the two divisions) then the championship game (two games between two divisions). That is a total of 30 games, which could all be bowl game (if they still want to keep all the bowl games).
Have a 10 game schedule, conference championship have a week off before playoffs start (for Army-Navy game), play the semi-final games on January 1st and the the title game on the Monday after (or the second Monday in January).
With a 10 game schedule, everyone plays 8 conference games and two OOC games. 1 OOC game must be against another power 5 conference team and the other game against a "mid major".. Eliminate the matchups between D2 schools.. Its really is ridiculous that season ticket holders get matchups like LSU vs SELU.
Each team plays 6 home games, 4 road games. Or maybe have 11 weeks, no conference title game, but there needs to be meaning for these bowl games.
This bowl season there was a bowl that was cancelled. Not delayed, but cancelled because of some bad weather in the area. Today, Auburn could have scored 100 on Purdue if they wanted. West Virginia was a completely different team without Will Grier.

Why not 16?
The BCS was killed because selecting just two teams was unfair and left out those who were equally deserving. Now we have 4 teams and the same argument is used.
Think about selection Sunday for basketball. What do people talk about after the brackets are announced? Who didn't get in a 64 team tourney.
If you do 8, there will be screaming too. Increasing the number makes it worse.

D2 runs a 28 team bracket that's seeded based on geographical Super Regions and then reseeded for the final four. The number one seed in each of the four regions gets a first round bye and homefield advantage.
I would love to see FBS copy that format because the tournament goes by fairly quickly but it also means getting into the top 25 means a lot.
The counter argument is it's very rare for a non-1 or 2 seed to make it to the National Championship Game, so it may be more sensible to just stick with eight teams.

I'm for 8 teams because it's LSU's only chance at making a playoff. This Orgeron Ensminger Regime can't go 11 & 1 and make a top 4. That's laughable! But I imagine they can go 10 & 2 and sneak into an 8-team playoff.

Zero wont lead us to 11-2. Forget that.

Because it's a scam to sell commercials and get Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State in the mix every single fricking year.

because 9 & 10 will have the same argument as 5 & 6 do now.
so would 65 and 66 in BBall .. not everyone gets invited or gets a trophy.
I prefer 6 but 8 would be OK w-out the "people" let the computer calculate the "calculated" best, regardless of conference.
