Must be a "cube' thing. Kidcube does the same thing in damn near every thread he starts.

That's the same thing I've thought about Kidcube. Anything that pops into his head. Maybe they're related.

how is that better than the current system?

total BS has been sold in LOADS by the NCAA.

Folks it is about audience and revenues enlargement
it is not and has never been about the best teams.
that's just a selling slogan.

Put the BCS formula back and let the computer w-out the politics decide the best 8.

because 9 & 10 will have the same argument as 5 & 6 do now.

Can’t we just start at 6?

4 teams is enough.
It guarantees you have the top 2 teams in and that’s the point.

And yes, why does every numbnut skip 6 and go to 8?

4 is fine.

The BCS worked

Why not a plus one bowl system? Every bowl is still meaningful and you take the best two teams post bowls.

There should be a 8 team playoff for the National Championship and a national/regional tournament for the rest of the league. Call it the NCAA Independent Championship. Each region(North, South, East and West) have 8 teams play. The teams that win the region will then play for a semi/championship.

Because it is hard to find four worthy teams. You find 8 you are just giving people a shot that just get hit at the right time

In all honesty, LSU is probably not getting in the playoff unless it goes to 8 teams.

Because there is already a 10 team playoff. It’s called power 5 conference championships. They should make it power 6 then use the conference champ weekend as round 1.
I agree conference champs should get in the playoffs, but if it's ONLY conference champs then other deserving teams could get left out.

It'll go to 8 teams, with auto bids for the Power 5 conference champs and 3 at-large. Only adds one more round and is the most logical option.

An 8 team playoff will get here. I think it will make the playoffs more interesting.

but that argument is diluted, because the farther you get from the top, the less strength the argument has.

When it was the BCS and only the top 2 played for the NC, there was a big argument from no. 3. Now it's no. 5. Later, it'll be no. 9. Arguing who's 8 or 9 just doesn't have the punch as arguing who's 2 or 3.

We see the same thing in March Madness - team 65 is bent out of shape. But it doesn't carry much weight because it's between 64 and 65.

the BCS formula was 2/3 human polls, where have been a joke for decades.

And you think the computer is the answer? You realize the computer is programmed by humans, with various factors that are tweaked every year based on those humans' biases about what factors are more important than others.

I'll take a somber selection committee any days over the BCS - it's much like the March Madness committee, which is universally respected.

Besides, when it goes to 8 teams, all this angst will mostly be gone, because they'll take the P5 champs and then only pick 3 at-large teams.

As a fan, I'm for it.

But I also realize that it's yet another game for the players. This means more risk of career-ending injury, therefore more stars will not play in order to get ready for the draft.

No it didn’t numb nuts, in 2003 it eliminated USC who was named AP Nat. Champ. and disrespected LSU’s BCS Nat. Champ. Auburn was undefeated in 2004 and didn’t make the NC, that’s why we have the playoffs - 8 teams is necessary so an undefeated UCF , Houston, Boise State or Cincinatti has an equal shot of winning the NC as Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Florida, USC, Texas , Clemson, FL State, and OU...

I will answer that question. Why 4 and not 8?

Eight would mean the chances of getting in are doubled.

And that would mean that the idiots that say bowl games don't matter would be twice as likely to be happy because their team made it. I prefer those idiots to be unhappy.

Anything beyond 4 teams is just nonsense.

All of the talking head experts that want to increase the # of teams are the same experts that say Notre Dame and OU have no chance of winning.

Keep it at 4 and add the strength of schedule component and your done.
