Why do half the threads you make not have any content in the post? Do you just enjoy making threads?

Honestly it’s hard to argue with that rationale.

I guess I’m for an 8 team playoff now.

As long as bowl games NOT part of the playoffs DO NOT count for anything. No stats, no W or L on the record... nothing but exhibition and a trip for the kids.

120 team year round tournament that only ends because of attrition.

an 8 team playoff will have:
5 power conference champs
1 group of five conference champ
1 spot reserved for ND if they are decent
and 1 wildcard spot

how is that better than the current system?

Because then we don't have to fight about which conference champ is better than another conference champ, and there's a designated spot for the best non-conference champ (or 2 if ND sucks) every year.

They've been talking about this...

They, being the comissioners of conferences that get left out more often then not. Guess that's big ten, pac 12, and the smaller conferences .

they are proposing The bowl games still the format for post season. In other words, the bowl games are playoff games.. Not all of them obviously, just the new year six type games. I think there proposing the power 5 champs and 3 at large.. No doubt, this happens eventually. It's just expansion, which happens in all walks of life. This things picked up some steam though and I've been hearing it's gonna happen soon...

Someone should be able to let you or us know when the original agreement of the playoff format expires. I believe it's now or next year. Nothing happens till that contract runs out.

was there really a fight this year? the fight was between a conference champ (OU) and a great team that did not win their conference (UGA). Ohio State was a distant 3rd. Washington wasn't even in the discussion.

I think I saw where Saban said he didn't want that.

So sorry, no 8 team playoff until he gets on board.

16 at the minimum.

It’s worked fine for D1AA for many years.

Are you watching Purdue right now? I have a hard time believing anyone in the Big-10 has a leg to stand on. This process hasn't failed anyone yet..

The 4 game system has barely provided any entertaining games.

Most of the semifinal showdowns have been dreadful. Don't need more games to prove what we already know.

At most it should be 6 with top 2 getting a bye. If you cant break the top 6, you have no business arguing to contend for the championship.

Can’t we just start at 6?

Because there is already a 10 team playoff. It’s called power 5 conference championships. They should make it power 6 then use the conference champ weekend as round 1.
