Why isn't Lloyd Peever given more respect?

So I'm perusing old box scores and stats to prove to a TD idiot that MLB players exist who hit less than 0.200 in their first 4 games as a sophomore...
And I come across Lloyd's 1992 pitching line:
Appeared in 17 games, started 15.
W-L: 14-0
IP: 104.2
ERA: 1.98
BAA: 0.184
SO: 116
BB: 20
Slg%A: 0.275
I mean damn. In that era... with those bats... Damn strong line. Why isn't this season mentioned more when discussing goat LSU pitching seasons and pitchers?

Paul Goldschmidt started his sophomore year 3/14 for a .214 avg. Almost there.
Matt Carpenter is probably the guy. I tried Brandon Belt, but UTs site didn't have box scores.

Peever was a stud...too bad he caught a line drive in the head

Probably because he was only here one year and it was sandwiched between two NC years and he didn't make the bigs. Perfect storm to be forgotten

1992 was before most people on this site were LSU baseball fans. There hadn't been enough championships, yet.

I think it is pretty regularly brought up when people who at least sort of know what theyre talking about start talking about best LSU pitching seasons. It is an absurd stat line, especially for that era. He doesn't get much play as an all-time LSU pitcher IMHO just because he was only here 1 year. I think that season he had gets its due.

He was a stud but bat technology was not that great yet. Not until about 1996-97'

I remember going to skip’s baseball camp that year and they said he could consistently hit something like 17 different locations in the strike zone. Kind of like a Greg Maddox type guy.

He is like Kip Bouknight for South Carolina...before the white-hairs of ULL stopped him dead in his tracks.
Check that dude's stats from 2000...

Was only here for one year and sandwiched in between the first two National Titles.

Saturday game v Ole Miss. I was at that game GenAdm on the third base line. Scary moments.

I read your title and immediately said “why is this cat worried about Ward Cleaver, beavers dad”?
Dumbass me!
Carry on.

Team was too young and thin after him. Rick Greene was back as closer, but new staff altogether. Russ Johnson and Walker were freshmen.

He's my #3 Pitcher after McDonald and Nola.

I’ve always thought Peever was under appreciated as a Tiger great. I chalk it up to him only being at LSU one season, and that season was sandwiched between two championship years.
ETA: To me, Peever is like the pitching equivalent to Brandon Larson, both transferred in from JUCO’s, had phenomenal years, and left after that year. With the exception Larson was on a championship team, so he gets a more name recognition.
