At least for me, it's not just about the regular season record but also about a bunch of other factors. Is the team disciplined? Was there a slew of injuries? Were we competitive in every game only to suffer close losses or did we get blown out, especially if more than once? And the bowls count, too. So you can have a really good 10-3 like last year (#6 in nation but one BAD loss), a great 10-3 as in 2001 (SEC and Sugar Bowl champs), or a "meh" 3-loss season in which our Tigers got whipped in all losses like 2015 (14, 17, and 17 point losses) and finished #16 in the nation.

For what it's worth, I checked and the O/U for LSU is 9, with over paying -120 and under paying +100.

Will all that said, I will almost certainly be disappointed with fewer than 10 regular season wins. It would take an odd set of circumstances for me to be "happy" with fewer.

And with Woodward's track record, that is certainly a real possibility. But even then, he didn't say what I asked you. But you already knew that.

What cheerios are predicting 9 and 3? I think you're getting your people mixed up.

Agreed, I expect at least 11 wins this season, and a SECC or playoff appearance.

You wanted Les to stay forever?
I mean, yeah a guy gets some serious leash with a NC win, but it’s not forever.

Good point.

Guess we need to shut down TD.com, or ban expectations.

Just catching up on a few threads and it seems there are suddenly people saying they’d be ok with this record.
so you cherry picked a few posts and decided to make a thread about it.

Pirate is only okay with setting expectations and talking about firing a coach if Wade is that coach.

You think that would be a "huge disappointment"?

I don’t know why we need the qualifier “huge” but given the talent we have returning and the schedule 9-3 would most certainly be a disappointment

Because it's a message board where people discuss topics about LSU sports.

Agreed GR25. Some people love to minimize the effect that “message board posters” have on these situations. Keep in mind, many of these posters also purchase season tickets, concessions, parking passes, RV passes etc. As Joe Dean used to say, “I hire coaches, empty seats fire them”.

IMHO it is the product you put on the field. Are they organized, prepared? Do they execute? Make few mental mistakes? DO they play hard for 60min. Do coaches have a good plan? You check those boxes and we will win the games we have the talent to win.

Honestly that is what I hated about Miles, Chavis, and Cam. Their teams were ill prepared, had poor plans, were constantly making mental mistakes. We won by talent alone. You get good talent and put a well coached team out there, we will have success. Thats my benchmark

a strong indicator that this is his ceiling.

Could not disagree more with this statement. I'm hoping LSU will do much better than 9 and 3, but O hasn't had time to get the players he needs to win and dominate. the 2018 recruiting class has been the best class so far and those guys just finished their freshman season. It may take another great class (or 2) before LSU starts dominating again. You don't win championships with inferior talent. And not just talent, you must have the talent all across the board. Two year ago LSU lacked a good enough QB, as seems to be a recurring theme in recent years. It's even more difficult to dominate when the offense changes every year. O is headed in the right direction, but may not be there just yet. But his 'ceiling' shouldn't be judged on LSU having a 9 and 3 season.
