The PMAC deal is unrelated to the Union. And it’s nothing new we could always go to the PMAC before games. I’m sorry for preferring to walk 1 minute to the Union from the tailgates I attend vs 15 minutes to the PMAC when it’s 90 degrees outside. It’s just 1 more inconvenience and I’m already full on being inconvenienced by LSU for the opportunity to give them money to attend a game.

Dont blame LSU, blame the shitstain parents who just turn their kids loose on campus while they drink Fireball shots off a water ski (isnt that crazy)

Bunch of fat complainers. Stay home.

and the PMAC traditionally did not have other games on the jumbotrons and beer service.

Sounds like Kiran needs to file a freedom of information act

Yeah. Whenever I am tailgating on campus, I always think, "I should go to the Union for some Papa John's (Aramark) pizza."

An egg McMuffin and fountain coke with bourbon was how I started a many a tailgates. Sucks they closed the union.

Stop by McDonald's on the way to campus. Problem solved.

It was basically a high school hangout in close proximity to the frat tailgates - mix the two and you are asking for trouble

Fans are funny.

"Why do we only get this Aramark crap at the concessions stands?"

"Why can't I get this Aramark crap before the game at the Union?"

I tailgated prior to the 2018 Georgia game and then watched the game in the Student Union with a bunch of other Tiger fans. Obviously I would have preferred to be in Tiger Stadium, but it was a great time that I'll never forget. Always enjoyed catching some AC and watching games on all the tv's in there as well. Closing it doesn't fix any issue, it just moves it to somewhere else.

Sounds like LSU administration is lazy and uncreative.

The LSU union should be an on campus embassy to promote LSU to visiting fans and LSU fans alike.

Its sad how we lose good Louisiana students to other state universities because LSU shows barely any effort.

As long as they keep the bookstore open I’m good with it.
Still sucks though.

Student Union on gameday

lots of great memories spent at the SU. Perhaps the older folks remember these as well. My grandfather would take me to every home game from when I was around 6 yrs old to 13 yrs old ... mid 70's to around 1982. The drive was US 61 - Airline Hwy to BR. Once a year we'd stop at the Snake Farm since I thought it was cool. We always parked by the bowling alley side of the Union. Pre-game meal was at the SU cafeteria where I would always order 2 pcs. of fried chicken, mac n cheese, slice of pecan pie, and 2 chocolate milks. The serving line was like a Piccadilly where you get a tray and they serve your plate as you choose from the food options. Post meal we would check out the art galleries, walk around the bookstore, and watch televised CFB games in the various Union ballrooms. There was no ESPN so it was usually ABC coverage with Keith Jackson calling the mid-day Big Ten or Big 8 games. We walk under the oaks and go see Mike at his old habitat cage then proceed to our seats ... 30 yd line, 20 rows up, on the visitors side. Post-game I would walk down behind the visitors bench and ask for the tear away jerseys. I remember getting James Brooks (AUB) #21 jersey. Other memory was the Noel "Butch" Baum advertising on top of the scoreboards

walking to and from the Stadium always seemed like it was 10 city blocks to an 8-year old. Later attending LSU as a student I realized it was only 3 blocks

This sucks hard. The Union was always where I hung out before the game because it was comfortable, had food and a/c and multiple football games to watch on the big screen. Made the day pass quickly.

I don’t do any tailgating. Not everyone does. So this move by LSU directly torpedoes my enjoyment of Gameday.

“Incidents” on Gameday can happen anywhere. They aren’t closing the Union because it can’t be secured. They’re closing the Union because they are too lazy/cheap to protect it.

That is frustrating. It can be hot as shite and inconvenient to go all the way down to the PMAC and back depending on where your tailgate is located. Definitely sounds like a lazy move by LSU.

Soooo the high school kids will get drunk and fight at the pmac now??

Maybe I’m just old but why would high school kids want to hang out at the union and drink? It seems like a terrible location.

The soccer fields offer better distance from cops/ABC and the freedom of keeping your alcohol hidden in your own vehicles. Plus you can have all the fights out there you want and nobody cares

The bookstore will be a cluster if Union is closed
Only place to get anything is that Starbuck's

It's not LSU's job to manage high schoolers whose parents refuse to supervise them
