Has always been a great spot to catch some A/C, restroom for the girls especially, and watch football. I figured closures in past couple seasons were due to staffing problems. Apparently this is an intentional decision by LSU having to do with “incidents” in the past? Good grief. Maybe Im getting old but it feels like LSU is just begging me to stay home and not attend games.

What incidents? I used to hit the union in between tailgates if they didn't have TVs at the ones I was going to to catch some games. LSU continues its slide each year.

ETA: also was always solid to be able to grab Panda Express or chic fil a again if a tailgate didn’t exactly light the world on fire food wise.

PMAC will open at 5 hours to kickoff this season for restroom access, other game viewing and watching the Golden Band after they come down victory hill.

Am I supposed to be thankful for that? I don’t want to be next to the stadium 5 hours before kickoff I want to be in the middle of campus. Continuously inconveniencing fans is what LSU does best.

WTF I thought that was just during covid.

The union has always been one of the main places to go for restrooms and to eat - chick fil a, papa John’s etc.

The Pmac is just supposed to be for alumni/TAF

First I am hearing of it.. but I can see why.. in the last 5 or so years the Union had become a huge hangout for HS kids.. so with that came underage drinking and fights.. I am sure the campus police would rather not deal with that.. Personally I always liked a pit stop at the Union when the kids were younger, but there is still the Bookstore and other spots close enough to campus to get out the heat if need be

I listened to the Facilities Assoc AD or whatever brag about the PMAC being opened to fans but he threw in a line about "with the Union now closed on gameday". I found this article from last November and also you can see online the Union is now closed on Gameday.

quote:

The Student Union once served as a much-needed reprieve from tailgating on the Parade Ground, offering students and fans food options and bathroom access.

But multiple incidents that occurred over the past few years in the building during home games led the university to close the Student Union starting during the 2021 football season.

LSU spokesperson Ernie Ballard said that the decision was made to ensure the safety of everyone in the building on those Saturdays.

"After consulting with LSU Public Safety and Risk Management, it was determined that it was not feasible to continue to keep the building open on home game days,” Ballard said.

Assistant Director of Risk Management Ashley McGowan said incidents are confidential and they are unable to comment.

I thought they said the PMAC is as open to everyone this year and not just alumni/TAF?

Yes the PMAC is now open to everyone beginning 5 hours before kickoff. Pretty much anyone could already go to the PMAC before games if they wanted to. If I'm supposed to view this as some kind of upgrade over the Union....I do not.

Yea it’s not a upgrade at all.

The union is a great spot to have open on game day. It’s pretty central to a lot of the tailgates on campus.

Also who the frick wants to walk from the parade grounds to the pmac 5 hours earl?

So PMAC opens at 2 for a 7 game, people already out there so be 7.

It would be nice to have both the union and the Pmac.

Scotty not fixing any issues with fan experience.

This is a weird complaint. They are offering you AC, other games on jumbotron, seats, bathrooms, and beer service but you're complaining because it's too close to the stadium?

That isn't a far walk.

Yeah. Whenever I am tailgating on campus, I always think, "I should go to the Union for some Papa John's (Aramark) pizza."

Probably because they built a Sonic in there and now it is a spot where everyone wants to check knuckles

Would be nice to be able to get a route 44 and add some enhancements to it though...

In most cases, this is the better option
