Could we find a guy like that that was a lot skinnier and could actually throw the ball?

Yorke's AB vs the LHP was a really good piece of hitting. It's easy to overlook the little things like this, but he has had a few flashes that show how good of a hitter he can really be. I think he was pressing after hitting a few HRs early on, thinking he had to be a power hitter.

But he is best working up the middle and backside. He is too good of a hitter to hold down. Everyone is going to continue to eat a bunch of shite when putting him down.

I mean, his 2 RBI single last night was pretty clutch.

So, getting on base is not good??

That’s on the team? Obviously not. That’s not on the team is irrelevant as we are in the middle of the season.

Please advise who you want to play first in his place. JP proved to be a failure when he tried. No one else has been given a chance.

Well now I’m confused. I thought that was the point of Moneyball?

2-run single to drive the score up to 7-1, yea he's not good. We need you to bat in his place, I bet you couldn't hit a 40-mph pitch. Fans smh!!

The worst thing Yorke did was hit 4 HRs the first two weeks of the season. He set a bar that a lot of idiots on here expected him to sustain and, if he doesn’t, he sucks.

Yet everyone in baseball uses analytics now to structure their rosters and everything else during games. Oakland showed how to do it with no money and players no one wanted

I think several of you ITT missed the point of that film. I won’t even get into all the stuff the film left out

it’s good also helps tremendously when you have the best pitching rotation in baseball that year.

I’m fairly confident when he came here, both he and Jay agreed that LSU would try and turn him into a power first hitter to improve his pro prospects.

He has 25 HR/year power, but a 10 HR/year natural swing. I feel as though they tried to tweak that swing, and it’s just not working.

So now Jay has moved him down in the lineup and told him to get back to his old approach. Or maybe they’re trying to stick with the power approach, as Jay is a big process guy and doesn’t just abandon these things.

I absolutely don’t blame either of them for trying this by the way.

Regardless, Yorke is a guy that will remain in the lineup. You don’t bench .475 OBP. His fielding ability is not bad at all. Every one of his errors has come on bang bang throws that have been about 6 inches short. It’s not like he’s booting balls and sailing throws to second base every game.

neither here nor there for this thread, but I do love pointing out that money ball failed to mention the tiny detail that the Athletics had the CY young and MVP on their roster that year

The A's have 9 WCS, how many do you have? If John Fisher wasn't such a nepo owner the A's probably would have won more. Next thing you'll say that is Vida Blue from Mansfield, LA sucked at pitching.

Because one HR every ten games or so always undoes all of the numerous Ks and pop ups. Always has and always will.
