Why don't we have turf?

As a fan who followed Burrow down I was shocked to find that a stadium as storied as Death Valley has a grass field.
Turf fields favor the spread and I have to believe many HS stadiums in LA have turf.
Is there some kind of taboo against it?

If we have Turf we have far more injuries yesterday. Turf doesn't allow your foot to slip out from under it and therefore something else (inside your leg) has to give). Football and baseball are just meant to be played on grass. High School stadiums use turf because it's easy to maintain. It's an outdoor carpet.
ETA: How does turf favor the spread? Our team has looked awesome on grass or turf all year.
Eta2: Oklahoma has used grass since the early 90s and they’ve had 4 Heisman trophy winning quarterbacks, a national championship, and many top offenses since then. Grass isn’t a hindrance to offensive success in the slightest.

Turf is crazy hot.Not a great mix with Louisiana heat.

Because football should be played on grass. And if it gets wet so be it. All this complaining is amazing.

That grass is like a perfectly groomed carpet most days.
Just unlucky with the timing of the weather.

Unlike the north, we can grow great grass down here well into November.

No they don’t.
Offensive players have the advantage on a wet field. They know where they want to go. The defender doesn’t.
The problem in bad weather is handing the ball and throwing in wind. Turf doesn’t fix those issues.

Why don’t “We” have turf?
Some “fan” you are.

Unlucky with weather and bad field maintenance through the weather and bad decisions in the weather on how the field should be treated.

No to turf yes to taking better care of grass

Most football players, other than the track guys, would rather play on grass than turf. Less injury and wouldn't worry about those rubber pellets getting in their eyes

1) Turf is typically 10-15 degrees hotter at field level that grass. During the first month or so of the season, heat indexes can easily reach 105°-110°.
2) Conditions like you see yesterday aren’t very common. Aside from the occasional tropical system, rain doesn’t normally last long enough to soak that field.
3) Natural grass is safer.

Because, frick turf..that’s why.

Turf is not the answer if you have money and limited use. Last night was an anomaly. I’m an artificial turf guy and Tiger Stadium is not the place for it.

Why don’t we just cover the field like most people do?

Turf fields also create more injuries. Educate yourself

As Tug Mcgraw once said when asked if he rathers turf or grass” don’t know I never smoked any turf”.
