Get over it (1/9)! In Saban terms, 'relatively speaking Miles is the most successful coach against Bama'
Have faith. Bama is probably better, but any given day, Nighttime in Death Valley, the best Defense in the nation, An offense with 'Chest', talent and a strong want to prove themeselves.

Be a fan of our "Damn Strong Football Team' and yell for LSU!

Is that what he did on 1/9/12 when he didn't do everything in his power to prevent us from losing? When he kept sending Jefferson out there over and over again, even when he was obviously ineffective? Was he putting his team in the best position to be successful then?

people are stupid with this shite seriously

the man has coached 101 games at LSU and the only fricking thing out of your ignorant mouths is one game

I'll be leaving this earth soon and I am glad I won't be here to see the fricking meltdown when Miles does leave and you butthurt morons run a coach outta here yearly

Holy hell some of you are fired up!

I'm not downing Miles. I personally think the 3-3 doesn't look as good as some others considering how deep the last loss stung.

Sorry.

This isn't 1989. The athletic depart doesn't comprise local yokels and in-bred good ole boys. We found a replacement for Saban, we'll find a replacement for Miles.

You are one that will never be satisfied. The glass is always half empty, never half full. I watched LSU and bled purple and gold for over 5 decades (since 1967) and I know how hard it is to win and what it is like to lose. Most people who watch NCAA football probably don't even know that Miles is 3-3 versus Saban and has won 2 out of the last 3. All losses sting, but the support should never waiver. In 5 decades of LSU football, we have never had a more loyal, classy, fun loving coach, winner (on and off the field), player's coach, etc. than Les Miles. Besides that, he is a great coach on any level and I am damm glad he coaches at LSU.

Ask any fan base at any college in the country if they would be happy with a 3-3 record versus Saban and winning 2 out of 3 over the last 3 games and they would say that is a great success. I can't spin it any better.

While the record is 3-3, I think that if you look at performance of the team vs expectation, you have to say Miles has outcoached Saban 4 of their 6 games. Here's a breakdown:

2007: Saban outcoached Miles, taking an eventual national champion to late in the 4th qtr.
2008: Miles outcoached Saban, taking the then #1 Bama team to OT with a team that ended up 8-5.
2009: Miles outcoached Saban, taking an eventual national champion to late in the 4th qtr, hampered by questionable call on PP int.
2010: Mile outcoached Saban, as evidenced by the TE reverse call, one of the greatest play calls in LSU history.
2011a: Miles outcoached Saban, winning against eventual national champion on their home turf. Saban melted down, making some very questionable "cutsie" play calls that cost them the game.
2011b: Saban outcoached Miles, so bad that people forgot how good LSU had been all year.

Name another coach that has competed with Saban like that.

Why? I think the rivalry aspect is pretty accurate. Miles is also so results oriented that the Saban "process" mentality really gets to him. Lastly, Miles can get his players to run through a wall for him (which is why 1/9 is so puzzling to everyone.)

Hopefully, Miles becomes the "Mad Hatter" again, so he can outcoach Saban again.

I appreciate how long you've been a great and loyal Tiger fan. In no post have I ever said Miles was bad or I wanted him out.

But before you go bringing up the ifs ands and buts, it's time you called a spade a spade brother.

I'll take Les Miles all day. But I'm not bragging about his success against Nick Saban after that game. I can brag about plenty of other things, but I'm not a delusional rose colored glasses kind of guy. Like him or not, you can't defend that game and it counts more than any other game he's ever at least coaches against Saban.

You wanna brag in a thread about success against Saban? Wait til next week at the absolute least.

That goes both ways. And how many other coaches can say they've beat a Saban coached team 50% of the time?

In addition, you get asshats saying Saban "owns", or "runs circles", around Miles. So which is it, is 3-3 great success or not?

Miles might be the only coach in the country who lives to battle Nick for every recruit, every game. I do believe he fully enjoys the competition. For him and his team to go out and compete against another team that is as good or better than themselves. This is what champions live for.

Saban made a choice and left LSU. He wasn't kicked out, fired. He didn't want to be here anymore with all this supposed talent. Then when he made his return to college football, he came back to the same conference 1 year later to coach another team. I just can't get with the love fest for the man regardless of what he has accomplished.

I respect his accomplishments, think he's done a great job, but I'm not envious. I like where we are with a coach that wants to be here and I still want LSU to give them something to stew over for the next off-season.

As for point spreads and predictions, one of my old football coaches used to say if you already know who's going to win, then why play the game.
