Saban made a choice and left LSU. He wasn't kicked out, fired. He didn't want to be here anymore with all this supposed talent. Then when he made his return to college football, he came back to the same conference 1 year later to coach another team. I just can't get with the love fest for the man regardless of what he has accomplished.
The guy came here and built this program. He demanded improvements and we still benefit from them. He left LSU for one of the most lucrative job offers the NFL had to offer.
Going to bama on the other hand gives LSU fans to despise him. I am thankful that he came here bc I NEVER thought we would win a national title in my lifetime... But can't stand him for going to bama.

Why do you think saban has such great success against les?

I agree for the most part. I wouldn't say he didn't want to be here anymore, I think he realized he got all he could ever ask for if he ever wanted to be a pro coach. But, he flat out sucked as a pro coach, and he wanted to come back to college. Fair enough.
At the same time, he came back to a college school in our very division. His success necessarily is to the detriment of LSU.
One can understand his desire to come back to college football, and one can understand our animosity at him now standing in the way of our success. Both positions have merit.
And I, for one, would not want him back. We have a winner who's not a grumpy prick.

3-3 isn't great success. That means he wins 50% of the time.
geez. against saban at bams who the hell else is 3-3. AND some of that was when LSU was down, like in '08 and '09.

This is why. Miles isn't a better coach than Saban, but he does have equal talent at his disposal. I can't think of a single person who has ever questioned LSU's talent level; it's our coaching that has been suspect at times.
Idk, people bitch ab the rankings all the time. Lsu, Aub, UGA, UF, FSU and Bama have all recruited well and are all equally talented imo. And we all recruit the southeast heavily.

Do you dispute the notion that it would be better to have two NC's rather than none, one undefeated season rather than zero, and zero losses rather than one? Do you dispute that? Yes or no?
I would NEVER EVER want LSU to win a national championship the way Bama did last year.
The first team since prior to WWII to win a natl title WITHOUT winning their conference? HELL NO.
Their head coach having to go sit on the set of ESPN gameday during the SEC Championship game (because his team lost its chance to play in it) to beg voters to keep them at No. 2 even if another team with an identical record wins their conference? NOPE.
Lauding themselves after getting SIX WEEKS of preparation for a rematch (LSU only got two wks of prep to go ON THE ROAD) during which they completely retooled their offense to pass and their defense to be able to stop the option game--something they couldn't do during the regular season. THAT'S JUST REMEDIAL FOOTBALL.
Undermining the achievement of another team in their own conference for their school's own glory? CLASSIC SORE LOSERISM
Using the conference champion's undefeated record and schedule as the rationale for why they should be in the national championship? BS
Tarnishing the value of an SEC title just so their coach and players can massage their wounded ego for losing a game AT HOME? PATHETIC
I'm proud of what LSU accomplished last season and, though I wish the outcome of the final game were different, I'd never feel satisfied by winning a title the way the Tide did last year.

I would.
Are you proud of being the only 2 loss BCS national champion?

Yes, very much so. We won the SEC Championship, and were clearly the most deserving of the major 2 loss-teams to face 1-loss OSU. And we kicked OSU's arse. Why wouldn't any Tiger fan be proud of that?
And don't give me the "in any other season" crap. It was not any other season, it was 2007, and it was what it was.

TopWater, we just see things differently. I don't think Miles is recognized by a small vocal minority of the LSU fan base or a large part of the national media for everything he has done on the field for LSU football.
I think sometimes he is overshadowed by Nick Saban. I truly believe that LSU will win this weekend, but since Miles has been at LSU, I almost always think we will beat any opponent that we play in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night.
I can choose to still remember 1/9 or I can choose to hope LSU wins this Saturday. I choose the future and not the past.
The primary purpose of my original post is to stop everyone from saying that Saban owns Miles. I think they are equally good coaches, but that they coach and act very differently. If my sons played football (they didn't) and I could choose a coach for them to play for, I would choose Miles over Saban. I'm sure others might choose Saban, but if I had to trust the coach with my son and his career, I would choose Miles everyday of the week. Loyalty and Miles' love for LSU go a long way in my book. With Saban, I would always be wondering when he was going to leave the team high and dry (just like he did).

What tells you how good a coach Saban is when another coach is 3-3 against him and its called a great success. Saban's first year at Bama or the rebuilding year to me is a throw away year. Les never had that concern because he inherited a top knotch program. I am thinking the record vs Saban is more like 2-3 throwing out that first year. If you are gonna be fair to Saban not just slant everything to be pro Miles.

Since the end of 2009, Saban is 22-4, half of the losses are to les and lsu. Other two are against scam newton and Stephen Garcia.

Bama was the most deserving team to play us. Losing to the number one team in OT is better than ok st, loss to Iowa st.
I have never been a fan of the BCS ( ok lost their championship gm 35-7) and have always been in favor of a playoff.

As well you should!
Nick is a fine HC as is Les. Together they have given LSU football the greatest period of football sucess LSU have even known.
One coach was offered another job and he took it. The other coach was offered another job and he didn't take it.
I'll back the guy who was loyal to LSU over the guy who wasn't any day.
NS cut and ran for another job in 04. Some need to get over him and move on.
Screw this NS lovefest some want to bring up here on a regular basis and screw NS.
He's nothing more than Tiger bait.

considering no one else beats them and they got a lucky mulligan i'd say it's great success.

The problem is I am not part of the group that doesn't give miles credit. I think he has been fantastic. He gas faults as does saban. The anti saban pro miles guys say saban is an arse and miles is a players coach. It's funny that we all loved sanand style when he was here bit he left for an incredible job offer. Thing is some that knew him say he struggled with the decision to leave.
Saban did as much if not more for LSU than miles has and he should be respected for it. I am thankful for his time at LSU.
Miles is our coach and has been excellent. Any reasonable fan knows he has weaknesses. The fact that airing them brings on constant bs is pathetic. Wanting an improved offense for your favorite team shouldn't bring on an onslaught of you're a terrible fan, never satisfied, 82-19, etc. It is so stupid. I come here to discuss the game, not be met with childish retorts bc others take a comment as negative to lsu. And the bs from the so called positigers actually makes me want to be negative.

Do you think Herbstreit really broke a story w/o having solid info? I think it pissed miles off so bad that it leaked prior to the SECCG he declined going to UM.
You know Miles left Ok. St. for the same reason Saban left LSU right?
