I think he’s a terrible cultural fit, and I’m not talking about whether the fan base can relate to him. He’s the most milquetoast, arrogant, no-seasoning white person imaginable and he thought he was going to come here and emulate Nick Saban with the Rolex and nice house and “process” talk and have our players eating out of the palm of his hand.

They look at him like he’s a fricking idiot who they can’t stand and his message isn’t resonating with them. I think his lack of fire and intensity has been his death knell. The type of players we have from Louisiana and Texas just need a real one to lead them, and he’s not that.

He doesn't give a damn no more. Kelly is holding LSU hostage with his buyout money and he knows it. He came over to the SEC to beat Saban. He's got nothing left to prove other than ride off into the sunset with his $$$. He will never with a championship.

I think the game has sadly passed him by. And he seems to have a stubborn streak that prevents him from making necessary adjustments and changes.

because the most important role in football is who is calling plays. The 2nd most important role is QB, and he has made a tremendous mistake being loyal to Joe Sloan and Garrett Nussmeier.

1. He ignored the OL issues in the portal
( and was slow to embrace it).

2. His staff is not good at teaching fundamentals.

I'm not sure - but I do know this. I am the same exact age as BK. I've been a surgeon for 35 years. I can still do surgery as good as I ever could, and I know a lot of things I didnt know 25 years ago.
But do I want to take on the big, complex cases anymore? Stay up all night doing high adrenaline trauma cases? Hell no! I am content now to work 8-5 and not take call. My ego no longer requires me to do the difficult stuff. I see this exact same demeanor in BK, and I know what he's feeling. I think about retirement every day, and I know he does too. This is the entire issue, and I have zero doubt about it.

It's too much to fit into one post. You nailed a big part of it.

It's different when you're not playing Purdue and Air Force each year with your "big game" against USC. Life in the slSEC is tough

Look at Nebraskas pathetic schedule. The Big10 is a cakewalk if you dont play OSU Oregon or Indiana. Notre Dame doesn't even have to deal with that.

The SEC is for the big boys. This league is deeper than ever. The Big10 is top heavy. The ACC is a joke and big12 might as well be the American.

The SEC is a gauntlet. You have to have your shite together and be prepared every week and we don't check either of those boxes from a coaching standpoint

He's a stat padder, not a great coach.

He’s never been a good coach that’s why. Notre Dame has been better since he left.

I hope that Kelly retires. Perhaps the game has passed him by. Your saying that he has never been a good coach is ignorant. Kelly took over a Notre Dame program that was a total train wreck. After Holtz retired, Bob Davis, Ty Willingham, and Charlie Weiss ran the Notre Dame program into the ground; the once proud program was a joke. Kelly transformed that program and restored Notre Dame to its rightful position.

Got it made with his forever contract which reduces the fire in his belly to win a NC. If LSU would have loaded his contract with achievements instead of guaranteed money he would be forced to win.

The SEC is brutal. Plus, I think instead of incentivizing him to seek a berth in the CFP, he just dialed it back a bit - you know the ole "go ahead and fire me, but give me my money" Syndrone. Okay so maybe he dialed it back a lot.

IMO the same affliction struck Ed Orgeron after winning that NC, and Jimbo Fisher. They lost that edge and just went through the motions. A guarantee of millions tends to do that to some people. But to Ed Orgeron's credit, he made good on his promise to deliver an NC.

The problem with me is I'm stuck in a timewarp. There was a time where collegiate football offered a young man an athletic scholarship at a great university. A chance to get a great education and a lifetime skill. Tons of money chasing after coaches and football student athletes has changed everything. I've got to cut Brian Kelly some slack here, since me thinks LSU is being priced out of the semi-pro collegiate football market.

I mean look at the comparison between LSU (42,000 student body) and Texas A&M (75,000 - 77,000 student body). Did I mention UT? Or Louisiana (population roughly 4.5 million) versus Texas (31.29 million). Size does matter.

......and the NCAA is the NFL's bitch.

Yawn.

I’ve been really lethargic towards Brian Kelly since he’s been here. I wasn’t a huge fan. I wasn’t against him but his whole demeanor sucks. His message sucks. It’s not a good fit down here. It’s just not. I never hope LSU loses games, but I don’t care if we lose five or six games this year I hope he gets fired. I have no idea where we’d start over and who is available. That would be a good fit. I have no clue but I know they owe you as a top five job in the nation that we should probably be able to get who we want.

It’s hard to win in the SEC as you see all these teams are good. This bomb from Alabama was fixing to get runoff after the Florida State game and look how they’ve progressed. They have a functioning defense and a functioning offense with a quarterback that’s better than ours that wasn’t even mentioned hardly preseason so I don’t know Texas A&M coach same way
