I know I’m biased in this, and while Bama is probably a better job than LSU, I really don’t think the difference is that big. They have a more storied history but there’s nothing intrinsic about the program in the year 2025 that makes it easier to win at than lsu. Similar money, recruiting base, coaches salary, stadium size, etc.
Bama isn't better. What people are seeing is the results of two coaches becoming Gods there. The problem is that Saban in the modern day made it seem like the best job. In reality, the state of Alabama has less talent than Georgia and has Auburn in the state. Auburn being trash outside of 4-5 years the entirety of Saban's tenure has made it impossible to weaken them even a little.

LSU is the southern version of Ohio St. That's why I'm so pissed that we haven't gotten a coach to show that. LSU should be going 10-2 or better, every year. Same with UGA, and like Ohio St has always done. Those 3 are your top jobs. I'd put USC 4th and Bama 5th. USC should be able to own West coast recruiting with the right coach, especially Cali.

Recency bias. Bama’s run under Saban was unprecedented so it’s seen as the top job in the country due to the titles. If Lane does what Saban did at LSU there’s no way he leaves for Alabama.

Could anyone see a world where Saban left us for Alabama in 2005? Bama’s program was way down and Saban was building a dynasty, would have made no sense to make that move. It would have been viewed as lateral at best.

If Kiffin has success and leaves it will be to coach in the NFL

Edit: If both jobs were open right now he probably would have gone to Bama. I’m not disputing that, but now that he’s here I can’t see him considering a future bama opening

Honestly, because they’re scared of what he’s going to do at LSU

Negatigers and Tiger haters just trying to shite on a major LSU get.

When Sabin left the dolphins he tried to come back to LSU, but Skip Bertman stuck with Miles.

Sabin said leaving LSU was his worst mistake. Kiffin took Sabin’s advice to ditch Ole Miss for LSU. Why wouldn’t he heed his advice to stay?

People who know Bama say they would never pursue Kiffin anyways after his stint there.

I thought we would never accept O back. Yet here we are.

I thought we’d never accept O as HC in general lol. I mean I’m glad we did in retrospect because 2019 was awesome, but I was not pleased when we took off the interim tag

The grass is always greener.
Three ways Kiffen leaves .
Texas
Bama
NFL

Im sure you realize that Kalen DeBoer came with in one big play by AU from losing his job. Lose to AU , 3 loss season, no SECCG, no playoffs. Yes Bama work swallow their pride and hire Kiffin in a few seconds.
According to my Texas Friends sark is in hot water for underperforming.
If Kiffin does well at LSU he will be gone in two years.

for an extra mil or two at Bama or Texas where he has in state rivals like Auburn and A&M to recruit against? And how many titles does Texas have recently? Yeah right amigo. If Lane leaves LSU it’s because he wasn’t successful (not likely) or has some success (at least a title) and wants to scratch that NFL itch one more time for his ego’s sake.

It’s because the Bama folks always have to steer the conversation back to them, regardless of topic in college football.

Here we have something happening at LSU and Ole Miss that doesn’t involve them at all… and what do they want you to think?

But… what about Bama?

The more you see it and recognize it… the less it will affect you when it inevitably occurs.

There is a cuck fantasy that some LSU fans and so many fans of other teams have with Alabama.

I will say Bama is a better program than LSU. Or has been, anyway. That’s due to Saban. They are not a better job than LSU.

Why would Lane be #3 behind Saban and Bear when he could become the GOAT at LSU?

Exactly. Bama is a better program I’m not disagreeing there, but we are the same tier at the end of the day. Ole Miss is about 3 tiers down from us hence the jump.

His ego doesn’t want to follow Saban and Bear and be under their shadow. This man wants a statue of himself at a major program and LSU is that shot.

Agreed. Any ego that values historical relevance will see an easier path at LSU.

1 natty would have made him the GOAT at Ole Miss
2 natties will establish it at LSU.
7 will establish it at Bama only if he accomplishes it in the same amount of time as Saban did.

LSU can match the salary that Bama can. No one will beat Saban’s record at Bama in the NIL era.

Coaches seek “blue blood” opportunities to establish their legacy. There’s no reason to move from one to another.

I think it will be for the NFL. If he has success here he'll want to prove he can conquer the next level.

The only direction going from making $13m+ at LSU would be to the NFL. [According to articles on google] there’s only 8 coaches in the nfl making more than $13m and 6 of them have won superbowls.]

*Ben Johnson supposedly makes $13m coaching the Bears & Vrabel & Shanahan are @ 14m for reference

In theory, the only ‘threats’ to pull Kiffen away from LSU would be the Cowboys or NY Giants at this point.

This is the same thing ole miss fans were saying last week. Just sayin..

If Bama wanted to pull him they probably could. I doubt they would want to though.
