Correct but if your aim to stop the crying you’re fighting a losing battle. At least you’d have hard qualifiers and if the 6 team model was the original plan conference realignment and expansion wouldn’t have happened so a lot of those teams would be in.

Sure but unless everyone plays eachother everything is subjective.

Which 5 conference champs? the “best” 5?

That’s sounds pretty subjective too.

I'd like to go back to the P5 and G6.

P5 champs get a bye. G6 champs pair off in play-in games and try to make a Cinderella run.

I’ll be the first to admit I have never taken the time to understand rpi but it seems to work for College Baseball and Basketball…why can’t it work for college football?

Personally I think it’s 2 things:

Sample size is a bigger issue.

Should be a max 8 teams play and no weeks off. #1 plays #8 etc. I have watched most of every playoff game and numerous teams shouldn't have been in the playoffs. Money grab central. I hope the Vols win by a signify margin tonight.

There is no P5 thought.

Pac 12 is 2 teams.

Big 12 is a bunch of mid majors and the bottom have of the 2 worst P5 conferences. the teams other conferences didn’t want.

That would be good too. As fans were looking at it the wrong way of course. This isn’t about sports it’s all money

Have to be honest. I wasn’t even interested in watching any of this weekends games. Was working on a project out in garage and my wife came out to tell me there was a game on and was shocked when I told her I was good.

Absolutely true

For me, the idea is to eliminate any legit crying from a team that could win it all with a fluke or two (or even 3) to happen in the playoff games. So crying about being left out of the top 12 never looks like 2003 USC say they should been in the championship game. Of course, you could probably achieve that with 6, definitely with 8.

The two teams crying the loudest simply had to beat one bad team on their schedule to make the playoffs over SMU.

8 would be more than enough.

That's why I want to go back to the old conferences. Superconferences suck.

Too much variance from year to year to do this imo.

When’s the last time a kid major won a NC?

I don’t think we could go to 32

but 64? 1 superconference and 4 divisions of 16. tale the top 4 of each.

I mean there are currently 68 Power 4 teams… so you are suggesting cutting out 4 teams?

The contract for the CFP wasn't over. To make changes they needed to have unanimous support from all conferences. The g5 wasn't going to agree without an automatic spot. And if they give 5 auto spots, the sec and big 10 wanted more at large spots so they settled on 12

They do need a computer rating back as part of the selection process. 2 teams, it was no good. 12, that's a different story. I think an RPI like statistic would at least help.
