"Probably because LSU could easily run that pod consistently"

What is Bama pushing for - Auburn, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt?

pod 1: A&M, OU, UTX, Mizzou
pod 2: LSU, Arky, OM, MSU
Pod 3: Ala, AU, Vandy, Tenn
pod 4: Uf, UGa, USC, Uky

Somehow, preserve LSU playing Bama and UF annually.

Why y’all talking about pods, chances are bama and auburn will be moved to east and Missouri to the west. This keeps all traditional rivalries in tact.

They have to play Tennessee every year though

I’d also have LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St., Arkansas

Vandy, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina

Texas, OU, A&M, Missouri

They will never ever give LSU this pod. Think deeper.

Time for strategy.

IF they do a 9 game conference schedule the pod effect is minimized because each team is playing half the other pods every year. In a 3+2+2+2 you would be able to play every team in the entire conference at least twice in a 4 year period (home and away). I think it would actually make it feel even more like a conference than it is today since seniors can leave without ever playing in some stadiums. But that can’t happen if they keep non-pod annual opponents

keep Bama and Florida as permanent opponents

Considering we've played Florida for all except for 3 seasons, beginning with 1958, and have played Bama every season beginning with 1964, I agree with this wholeheartedly. I believe in maintaining and respecting established traditions. Likewise Ole Miss, Miss. St and A&M-- they're all long-standing traditional Tiger opponents.

Of course the Black Bears and Cowbells will be in a pod together. And outside of each other, I believe we're the opponent they've each played the most, so it's logical to have us there. The 4th spot isn't as clear, you could have R-Kansas there just as easily.

Exactly lol it won’t be pods unless we add more than just Oklahoma and Texas.

Pods would be making something difficult just to be difficult, you add the two and move the two. Whoever that is, likely would be auburn and bama to the east and big12 teams to the west .unless they decide to just make the east and west as even as possible and say frick geographics

I think there are gonna be lots of very long argument filled meetings before alignment and schedules are settled. This is probably the most contentious part of the merger.

What part about TRADITION don’t you understand??

But seriously, we have a fair population of boneheads that think the only way to a championship is living by the Les Miles strategy of “attack them where they’re the strongest,” and anything SLIGHTLY less than the hardest schedule on earth will hurt us. Makes total sense.
