I don't like the pods. I prefer Bama and Auburn go to East. We get TX and OU.

Not a bad idea. I might could get on board. I’m just up for some variety, though. I find it much more exciting to play everyone in the conference more frequently. Too many good teams now to go around.

First, A&M and UT very unlikely to be in same pod

Where is this coming from? Those two campuses are 90 miles apart and have a long history. Those two being in the same pod is the most logical option.

Why are people here ok with Texas and Texas A&M being in separate pods just to make A&M happy.

What are you talking about? Who is okay with this…? Who other than an AGGIE wants to see LSU, A&M, and the 2 Mississippi teams in the same pod. What about this situation makes you believe A&M has a legit say?

This $hit is so disrespectful on the “ut/ou” only coming to the sec to block “A&M’s catching up to bama” bs…. Let that sink in. A&M thinks they will eventually be competitive with LSU. They think they ARE competitive with LSU. They want the two shite Mississippi teams + LSU because they think that is the best chance of a W. A&M thinks their losing record (the outlier being during a global pandemic) means something. Lololol

I’m fine with Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. However, the more I think about it from a recruiting standpoint I’d like to play a team from Texas every single year just to keep our presence in that state. Other then that I see no need for A&M to be in our division or pod or whatever the hell they want to call it. shite the more I think about it screw Arkansas I would rather play A&M. For whatever reason I just can’t get excited about playing Arkansas the entire time they’ve been in the SEC.

I am okay with it because we should win it the great majority of the time.

This is our chance to finally get some fair scheduling in the sec. the permanent opponent and pods and divisions all need to go.

I do think it will be interesting to have another blue blood like Oklahoma in the conference who historically is a top 3-5 program. Might be good to have a team other than Alabama getting the special treatment and help balance things out.

I’m not saying I love the conference realignment I’m just saying the proposed pod structure is pretty favorable if that’s the draw we get. I’m not crazy about any of this but it is what it is. No amount of bitching on a message board I do will change anything.

I think there are gonna be lots of very long argument filled meetings before alignment and schedules are settled. This is probably the most contentious part of the merger.

I don’t know. I assumed this has already been decided and presented to all parties. IF not, that is a failure of the Presidents. This would be like agreeing to a full transaction based solely off of a letter on intent and not the definitive deal documents.
There area practical implications like travel budgets as well to fully understand the true net increase in revenue, besides the impact on traditional matchups.
I was about to write that I can’t believe they would be that naive or stupid to invite them without this being worked out, but then I deleted it as these are academic executives, so they might be.

Texas A&M is absolutely terrified of Texas. They ran away from them by going to the SEC, they ducked them in bowl games the last 8 years, and now they are trying to duck them, as much as possible, in the SEC itself.

Tell me you don’t know about Texas football (all schools) without telling me you don’t know about Texas football.

Do you see why A&M ran away?

That wouldn’t even it out. Geographically, if you moved the Alabama teams east, you should probably bring Missouri west as well.

Sounds like some "Yankee arse" terminology! The SEC ain't gonna have PODS.

If we just keep it two divisions, and you move the AL schools east, our every year looks like this:

Miss, MissSt, Ark, A&M, Texas, OU, Mizzou - that's 7 games

... if we don't do permanent cross division games, we now play UF, Auburn, Bama at home like once a fricking decade. No thank you. The reason pods work is you see everyone every two years max. Sign me up for that over not playing the teams I love to hate.

Hopefully we can keep Bama and Florida as permanent opponents. And likely Arkansas, too.

Hope we can do away with all permanent opponents except those in our pod/division. Can't be new and innovative while still holding to old ideas.

Why? Not trying to start shite, just want to know why you’d prefer this.

I'm a traditionalist. Simple as that. I realize pulling them off the annual schedule could ease our path to the playoff, but again, these are two marquee games, year after year in the SEC and I don't want to see them go.

ETA: I don't want our annual schedule to look more like a Big 12/8 schedule.
