re: Why are reporters trying to pump this up as a close game?

Because anything other than that is counter productive to their goal of drawing attention to their article/show/media forum/etc.
Seems pretty simple.

After I flew into Wisconsin highly confident, I'm not taking anything for granted.

They for sure have the better line, tight end, qb is close, rb is close.
And their strength is going against our strength. I'm willing to bet that our strength will win out in dominant fashion when it's all said and done.
Our advantage is they don't have film on us. We can go back to last year's film on them.

I've heard 4-5 guys over the past week on national and local radio saying how this COULD be a close game and to keep an eye on UCLA.
Pushing this as a close game is good for LSU. More eyes and then when we look good, it'll look better on a national scale.

Several things. Starting with 5-5 last year. Then Chip Kelly has them executing, whatever that means, plus the advantage of having the first game under their belt and being the home team. LSU is still the favorite because of talent. On a neutral field LSU would be a 6 1/2 to 7 point favorite. That’s by the lAs Vegas betting line. UCLA has been getting slightly more play than LSU to cover the spread because they beat Hawaii so bad.

"This game won't even be close. Don't bother to tune in for our primetime 4K broadcast on, Fox."

How on earth could anyone think UCLA will be a close game?

What is the current line? 3 points.

We have new coordinators. We got the Joes, but do we have the Xs & Os?
Posted on 9/1/21 at 9:44 am to dallastiger55
Most likely will be close for a half or into the 3rd

LSU is coming off a 5-5 season, has a history of playing down to competition and has two new coordinators. Throw in the hurricane, it’s not that ridiculous. I expect a one possession game.

I don’t expect the trouncing of a lifetime but a one possession game seems a bit much.

Yes we are coming off a 5-5 season.
UCLA is also coming off 5 straight losing seasons in the worst that the PAC-12 has been in a long time.
Im not saying LSU will beat them 45-0, but I also dont think this will come down to a feild goal to win the game.
After watching alot of their highlights against Hawaii, their QB completed 50% of his passes. Not good. Not to mention, Hawaii looked like they were playing flag football the way they were trying to tackle their running backs (which accounted for 4 touchdowns). If UCLA's offense plays as vanilla as they did against Hawaii, it's going to be ugly for them. I strongly doubt that will be the case through.

We also went up and spanked UW in 2009. Hard to believe its already been 12 years.
Oregon in 2011 as well

I hope our team isn’t thinking the way our fans are.
Did y’all watch any of UCLA last year? They should have beat Oregon and almost won every game.
I watched all of there games from last year , and trust me on this, dtr played the worst game of his career against Hawaii. That’s just not an accurate representation of the player he is.
He’s got some wheels and a cannon, he has come along good up until last game. He’s started since he was the number 2 or 3 dual threat qb in the nation , he was an elite 5 start talent in high school
We will be a better d than Hawaii , but there ain’t no way in hell he plays like that again . Just watch the tape from last year and you will see that he’s better than what you saw Saturday.
Also , he did get pulled when they were blowing Hawaii out, so he never got a chance to turn it around a little

The people in here are such idiots
Anything under Miles should not be allowed as a comparison, there is no coach who has done less with more in the last 20 years, not to mention how undisciplined those guys were.
The national guys' jobs are to pump this game up for ratings, this game has a lot 2018 Miami game feel to it...
Not saying LSU is gonna win by 40, but a double digit victory is what im thinking.
Chip Kelly has a record of 11-21 at UCLA

Actually, their only job is to make a profit. Nothing else matters. The lines change not because someone has some brilliant insight, but because a lot more money is coming in on one side or the other.

Also could’ve easily been 7-3, Missouri & Miss St, still below LSU standards anyway you look at it, Let’s move on boys 10-2 or bust
