Both the Tigers
Both play in Death Valley
Both have Purple as a primary color
Bands play similar music (Clemson plays hold that Tiger more than we do)

It can't all just be a coincidence right?

Don't forget on 12/31/2012, we helped send Clemson on their way with our loss in the Peach Bowl. 4th and 16 or so inside the CU 5 yd line and we allow Clemson to make the 1st down. This is often brought up by Dabo as what got them going.

I'm sure it's been discussed ad nauseam on this site but I've searched before and couldn't find anything. I'd always heard someone left LSU a bajillion years ago and brought all of their defining trademarks to Clemson...for some reason.

I've wondered this for many years and hope someone can give an explanation.

In my mind, I imagined a peddler in the early 20th century going from state to state selling sheet music and mascot packages.

Actually, I thought it was the opposite. LSU's president at some point came from Clemson and brought some things with him...

Almost every school with a tiger mascot plays Tiger Rag, the family of the guy that wrote it said he didn't write it specifically for LSU but he was a diehard LSU fan.

I'd say Clemson's primary color is orange.

Tiger is the 2nd most common mascot behind Eagles, there are 46 schools with the same mascot.

Clemson's stadium was built after Tiger Stadium but has been known as Death Valley for a longer period of time and actually makes sense: there's a cemetary on a hill which overlooks the stadium

Ultimately it's mostly coincidence I think, except the stadium which it looks like we actually stole from them.
