Core memory. I was 10 years old and our team was selected to play in a youth game early Saturday morning before LSU. LSU arrives going into our last inning and Skip and a handful of players are hanging out in our dugout. Also that game I hit a ball in the gap that rolled forever and got an inside the park homerun.
Thanks for starting this thread, I haven’t thought about that in a long time. That was 30 years ago.

Very fond memories of the Winn Dixie showdown!
Used to go every year with my HS baseball team and sit in LF.
Chad Cooley tossed me a ball.
Some drunk (I think ole piss} fan who could barely stand yelling LSWho at the top of his lungs over and over for 5 innings while we fell out our seats laughing at him.
Ah, the good ol days.

What year? I’m pretty sure I was in ‘90. I played for St. Bernard and we played Carrollton. It’s one of my favorite core memories.

I think that’s what was going on in the Superdome when I went to see Rush Limbaugh on his very first tour. He was in a side room with about 200 chairs and maybe 3/4 of them were full.
About a year and a half later, he was in the lakefront arena with 15,000 people.

South Alabama was the third school that joined Bama and Auburn. The Winn Dixie showdown was the first place I bought my dad a beer. I was still in high school at the time, and beer prices were a lot cheaper.

I went a few times. I remember a 1993 game against Mississippi State that we lost but I caught a foul ball and got Todd Walker to sign it after the game. My favorite memory was a game in 1994 or maybe 95. Of course this was long before social media, so fans never really didn't know much about the team when the season started. Some of you older folks will remember Adrian Antonini, who was a catcher on the 1993 team. Adrian was a big guy. It's late in game and Skip makes a call to the bullpen and out comes Antonini. I was shocked. He gets on the mound to take his first warm up throw and Skip is standing right behind him. Antonini proceeds to bounce his first pitch at least 10 feet in front of the plate and the ball goes to the backstop. Skip just looks down and shakes his head. I think Antonini actually had a decent season out of the bullpen and if I remember correctly, I think he was throwing in the low 90's which was not bad for that time in baseball.

During renovations, they released a hypothetical baseball configuration, but if I remember correctly they scrapped it and Dome is no longer setup to convert to baseball.
Looks like it would have been a very nice setup too
Sort of old Polo Grounds-esque.

I’m trying to confirm but I’m pretty sure it was ‘93 or ‘94

Remember going to the dome as a kid with my dad to see the Pelicans play several times. I think they were a STL Cardnals AA or AAA team.

I loved going to that!! The players were always accessible after the game and willing to sign autographs and talk with the kids!!! Awesome memories!!

MlLB exhibition games in the dome were fun as a kid.
