I mean just look at the average wins/losses per year. It's not really for debate.

That said, Saban was building something so he has a valid excuse. Still, the program was better overall during Miles tenure.

I think it's a compliment to Saban really. He was still able to win a NC while building the program.

Les Miles.

LSU will hang onto mediocrity produced by CEO because of his like-able personality. He will keep enough talent to be in the top 4 of SEC, but no QB or game plan to win the Conf.

That will continue until the talent slips.

We're entering O's 4th season as permanent head coach; previous program no longer relevant to any discussion (other than to point out that following Les, like following Saban, the program remained ranked).

These are O's players, O's choice of offensive coordinator, O retained Les' defensive coordinator. In addition O was Les' recruiting coordinator beforehand, so he should have his recruiting system in place.

I hope the OP is right, because O currently is behind Les, and he'd have to have at least 5 seasons with 2 or less losses, win 6 more bowls, win the SEC 3 times, and win a national championship.
He has to do this over the next 7 seasons, in order to just MATCH Les Miles. So if O is to surpass him, we're going to really be in great shape.

Well Les went to two national title games, won 1.

Ed Orgeron wouldn’t have been hired by ULM when LSU hired him. Hasn’t done that well when it comes to trying to win championships. Basically a middle of the pack, west team. The new AD will move on in 2 years.

After Les’s championship years we always got worse.

So did Saban.

2001- 10-3, won SEC and Sugar.
2002- 8-5, lost Cotton.
2003- 12-1, won Sugar/BCS
2004- 9-3, lost Capital One

I don't know what you mean. We won in 2007. 2008 was bad, but then 2009-12 were pretty damn good.

3 SEC West Titles 2 SEC Championships 11 Bowl appearances, Appeared in 2 BCSNC games, Won 1 Total record at LSU 114-34 .770 win percentage. Orgeron won't sniff that.

If Miles followed Dinardo we still only have one national title in our history

It's also a pharmaceutical grade non sequitur.

The question was who would have the better career...not would Miles have had a better career than he did if he followed DiNardo rather than Saban and also would that fictional career ultimately better than the one Orgeron will have following Miles? Why not wonder aloud as to which one would have had the better career following DiNardo?

Because of agendas...

Certainly possible. Particularly if the offense works the way some of us think it will - the D is already there. My guess is that, yes. O will overtake Miles' record.

This, Ogre has two years to beat Bama and win the West. Otherwise he’s fricking gone. ADs like their own guys, in four years at A&M AD replaced head football coach and head men’s BB coach. Their own guys.

Well he has his work cut out for him.

Miles had multiple 10 win seasons, three 11 win seasons, a 12 and a 13 win season. There are not many coaches that ever lived that have done that.

10-15 years ago most teams didn't play 13 games a season
