If anything, these games are more important now.

It gives the staff a chance to look at young and inexperienced guys in game action with zero down side. Watkins, Billiot, Toviano, Tyree Adams, whoever is starting at RG. Those guys will all get serious run for the first time this year and can be evaluated for spring ball.

He THINKS he is elite, when he isn't even close to that. Not hating, but be glad to bring in the new crew.
Lacy preparing for the draft and getting his 40 time down will make him significantly more money than literally anything he will do in the bowl game.

Do people not remember his injury scare in last years game?

It’s less meaningful than a spring game. The spring game is a minor early peek into 2025. This is a busted roster stuck in between players leaving and arriving. Not saying it isn’t worth watching. It just doesn’t mean much.

Some of them do, like Paris Shand. some of them just might want to play, some might feel obligated, some might want to improve their draft stock.

This is why you go to 16 or 24 playoff teams and do away with bowls.

The money and influence of the Bowl games are why this hasn't happened and may not without concessions to the sponsors, at least.

No other level of football college or pro or any other sport does this.

Pro football has preseason games and high school football has those jamborees. That all helps the coaches to see players in some game situations. That is the biggest asset of those meaningless bowl games for players and coaches. I do get some enjoyment out of watching LSU play one more game, as well, I know not everyone does.

It's only pointless if the sole purpose of college football were to win a championship. While that is the aspiration, the purpose of the sport is entertainment. I can't answer for you, but I'm entertained regardless of a championship run or not. A championship is just icing on the cake.

How much money would you like to bet that Kyren Lacy gets taken before day 3?

Everything is 50th pick to the 90th pick. If he can improve his 40 time to under 4.50 he may slide into second round. NFL scouts know he drops balls. Playing in the bowl game does nothing for his stock. And I believe he opted out already.

He can only improve with speed. Scouts know what they are getting. A guy who is quick off ball and will drop a couple here and there. Playing will not improve his stock at all. A great pro day or combine will.

Oh yeah, put a bunch of other teams in the playoffs that have 0 right to be there. Make the playoffs a different type of Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey show. Noooo, the correct answer is 8 teams at most making the playoffs and do away with all other bowl games. Of course I will miss a lot of 6-6 and 7-5 teams facing off. Oh, and Louisiana Tech at 5-7 really earned a post season game.

Lacy benefits from having a good game. He needs to play.

It's not pointless for the players in the game. I imagine if you asked our starting quarterback whether last year's bowl game was a waste of time and he would probably say no.

Less so from a fan standpoint, you just have to be excited to see how some new faces perform.

No. He does not. The only thing he benefits from is a great pro day or combine.

No. You're wrong. He needs at least 1 game of film not pointing finger guns at other players. Thats at least 1 mill more for him.

Completely disagree! This is where guys who may have sat/redshirted get the chance to show there stuff. Game is meaningless for the season, but important for the direction of the program

The bowls aren't going anywhere. The conferences will be scrapping for every penny they can get moving forward for revenue sharing. Don't expect conference championship games to go anywhere either.

I really don’t get how anyone could have watched Jayden Daniels Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas in the citrus bowl and then subsequently in 2023 and say these games are pointless.

Same for burrow and the guys in 2018

Because they don't understand the importance that bowl prep practices has going into the next season. It's always the things that go unseen that are deemed unimportant.
