The deal with Marshall was that he didn’t sign, went to school for a month, then transferred to juco so he could be draft eligible again the following year.
Ah, yep I messed that up.

Zach Lee
This one kills me because he was literally in line with everyone else, signing up for classes one morning and by that evening, he was gone. lol

Zach Von Rosenberg was on campus and had already attended freshman orientation in 2009 when he agreed to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates for a signing bonus of $1.2 million. He was drafted in the 6th round by Pittsburgh.
Now he’s like the richest punter in the history of college football.

Brody colvin also was on his way to his first class when he got the call

Deshields was committed here despite never visiting lol
That was an indication of his interest in college

$5.25 million....and minus taxes he still has most of it invested for the long haul.
It hurt as a fan when he left but it was absolutely the right decision for him. The offense he would’ve had to operate in during that time wouldn’t have opened any doors for him as a football prospect, and who knows how his baseball career would’ve gone at LSU.

Zach Lee was in summer school on football scholarship with plans to also play baseball. He participated in two-a-day football practice as the No. 1 draftee by the LA Dodgers. After the morning football practice on the last day to sign MLB contract, Les Miles told him to not worry about afternoon practice because he had a big decision to make. The kid really wanted to play both. That afternoon the Dodgers upped the offer to $5.25 million. He signed and he and the Miles family remained friends had stayed in touch.
Play QB for Les Miles or $5.25m from the Dodgers. Interesting conflict

Yep, so was Joey Gallo
Did he star in "Cousin Vinnie"?

You’re thinking of Brice Turang shortstop from California.

Correct. The 09 class was destroyed when both Von Rosenberg and Colvin signed last minute

Wait, I thought Marshall was the kid that came to LSU for one day. Something happened and he went and enrolled in JUCzo back closer to home

Thought they got the call in the office

it's posted several times in this thread. Zach Lee enrolled, and attended class during summer school in 2015, went through part of fall practice, then at the 11th hour signed a baseball contract. I believe the signing deadline was August 15th.

He will be 30 years old on the 24th of this month. He's older than one or two LSU assistant coaches.

Yeah. It’s like a stage name.
