Who hurt their draft stock more by opting out?

Marshall, Vincent, or Shelvin?
I have a feeling if Marshall had played out the year, he could have proven a little more in regards to his health and production, especially with playing against Bama and finishing out the season as a true number one receiver. It’s easy to see that if the Panthers would have probably taken him sooner in the second had they had a higher pick. I think he could have gone ahead of a fewer WR’s had he not opted out mid season, maybe in the spot Toney went, 20th, or possibly where Bateman went, 27th, to Baltimore. Not terrible as far as how much draft stock he lost but nonetheless, he could have gone higher.
Shelvin was always going to be a lower pick had he not opted out. I think he could have proven a little more by playing but I think his highest round would have been somewhere in the 4th, no matter had he played or not. I just don’t see many teams in the market for a true NT. I think he will probably go in the 5-6th round.
Vincent, in my opinion, lost the most by not playing. With the need for CB’s in the NFL, he could have proven himself to be a late 2nd-3rd round pick, especially with his speed. He took a step up in play in 2019, especially towards the end of the year. He became a better cover corner/nickel back. I have no doubt he would have been drafted on day 2 had he played last year.

No highly touted defensive back who played in 2020 improved their stock.

Shelvin could have been a top 3 rounder if he had come back and been dominate. Weight problems are the concern with him.
Vincent was gonna be a 5-7 rounder no matter if he played or not
With that said, i think Shelvin hurt himself more

Playing on our defense has tanked the stocks of the defenders that did play.

So 23 TDs in 29 career games or essentially 23 TDs in his last 2 seasons despite missing 6 games wasn't enough for him to showcase that?
He fell because of scouts thinking he was injury prone

Sad thing is Stevens hurt it as much by playing.

Good question, but I think you have to wait until the end of the draft to figure that one out. See where the chips fall for each one of the three and then do comparisons. Right now we don’t have the complete data to make comparisons cause there are more rounds to go.

Stevens has coverage deficiencies that will only get worse in the NFL. If he is able to put on enough pounds to play LB maybe but as a safety it will be questionable. Love what he did for LSU and his effort is without question but in the NFL your weaknesses are magnified.

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason though is that you’re stupid and make bad decisions. The only one that made the right decision was Jamarr Chase. Hindsight is 20/20 but people who listen to the quitter in themselves instead of the winner usually don’t succeed when they could have.

Marshall didn’t hurt his stock at all despite what people on here want to complain about. He went right where he was supposed to go. The medical evaluation means a lot more in this day and age than opting out and Marshall has a concerning history of lower body injuries. I was happy to hear his name called and I really hope he can stay healthy. I think he landed in a solid situation in Carolina.

I think teams are hesitant to pick quitters. Quitting reveals your character. See Devin White and Greedy Williams. Devin will be a hall of gamer. Browns fans have said Greedy has been disappointing.

That’s why Chase slid all the way back to 5.

All the NFL evaluators saw with Chase, was his performances vs Bama and Clemson. His opt out was not considered.

Hopefully this was a typo/auto correct?

Stevens needs to play LB at the pro level. If not he won’t be in the league

I thought they said Chase had Covid and he still had some effects from it which he decided to opt out. Do you blame anyone for sitting out on that shite show of a season with all the protocols in place?

Are you naive enough to believe that?
