Shelvin may eat himself out of the league before he is even drafted.

Now that all the data is in it looks like Kary Vincent lost the most of the three by sitting out.

Going into the season “prior to the opt outs. Marshall was thought of as a late first rounder to second rounder. He dropped one round.

Shelvin was thought to be mid to late 2nd rounder to 3rd rounder. He dropped by one round.

Vincent was thought to be a middle round guy 3rd to 4th round with a good year and his speed he was thought to possibly move to the 2nd round.

So Vincent hurt himself the most it appears.

Personally I am glad all three dropped in where they thought they would go before the opt outs. When you make a commitment, you should be taught to keep it.

They all hurt themselves except for Chase.

Great post

Commitment means very little to most of these kids anymore. Players sitting out bowl games, now opt outs of entire seasons to prep for draft....it’s disgusting. The irony is these kids don’t have the brains to realize it also says a lot about their character and you’d better be an elite talent to makeup for being a selfish quitter in the minds of pro Gms and evaluation people.

If you’re gonna “protect yourself” bc you THINK you’re gonna get paid, how are you gonna handle similar circumstances as a pro and more concerning would be how hard will you work AFTER you’ve got the cash if that’s all you care about to begin with ?

This is a crap shoot discussion. NFL executives want players that help them get better and dont bring PR ptoblems to their personal lives. Simply opting out means very little to this formula.

What I found a bit puzzling, is that all of them except for Chase went later than I expected.

For what its worth, I think Shelvin is the 1 other than Chase, that could really be a difference maker. Vincent in the 7th seems like solid value. He got better almost every week in 2019. I'd bet with decent odds a few $'s, he makes a team before hes done .

I think Shelvin could have improved stock by showcasing his ability in a different scheme

He would have probably had to play about 15 lbs lighter to be effective

I don't know what his conditioning situation is but it can't be that bad if he got drafted

What type of defense to the Bengals run anyway? I think he has pretty good upside
