Who else is tired of the SEC trying to force a rivalry game?

OU just ain’t it. A&M wasn’t it. Going back to playing Tulane would be good right now but no one can predict the sustainability of their program. I would rather go back to playing Arkansas the day after Thanksgiving. At least they made it a decent game most years and upset us several times when it was totally unexpected.

I don’t think they’re forcing a rivalry, I think they just have no clue how to handle scheduling.

OU vs Mizzou the last game of the year makes way more sense than OU vs LSU and Arkansas vs Mizzou.

Why is this board obsessed with having a "rivalry" to play the last week of the season. It's never been our brand and we don't have to be everyone else.

At least Oklahoma is a high profile name. This board griped for years about that Black Friday Arky game and they were right, it sucked. There were a small handful of nationally relevant games we played against Arkansas in 20 years and it was a game we came out flat in year after year. Nostalgia has blinded this board on this but at the end of the day the 2 programs are in very different tiers and we could do better the last week of the year.

I didn't hate A&M the last week at all but with Texas in the picture that's obviously out the window.

Yep. They forced a “rivalry” between us am Arkansas and it needed up being an entertaining end of the year game. and the 1pm Black Friday timeslot was awesome.

Assuming they thought this game would have CFP implications.

OU's rival is Texas and they play that earlier in the year. So neither of us have an rivalry opponent at the end. Seems like a decent match up to me.

If OU gets us a night game on Saturday, then so be it. I’m tailgating Saturday and can’t freaking wait!

been to more LSU games than I can remember and these games the last 25 years have rivaled Ole Miss games from back in the day.

I’d rather play Oklahoma every year than A&M or Arkansas. I respect Oklahoma more than those two schools. And I’d be cool with it being the last game of the year every year.

im ok with them trying to stir up a new "rivalry" with LSU and OU but they aren't even one of our permanent opponents? After next year when will we play them again? Seems pointless. They gave us 3 schools with in state rivals that are much more heated that our games with them.

OU always plays Texas mid-season and they are no longer in the same Conference with Oklahoma St.

LSU doesn’t have a natural rival. A&M and LSU played a LOT of games through the early 90’s. It made since for those two to play at the end of the season when everyone else was playing essentially an in-state rivalry game: UGA v Tech, Florida v FSU, Alabama v Auburn; South Carolina v Clemson, Ole Miss v Miss. St, Vandy v Tennessee, Kentucky v Louisville. Now Texas v Texas A&M are in the mix

There are only 3 other SEC teams without a dance partner: OU, Mizzou, Arkansas. Who do you want them to play?

LSU doesn’t have a natural rival. Get over it

They could easily go to a 9 game schedule and play each team home and away in a four year cycle. Problem is that they’re not finished adding schools.

There's no law that a rivalry has to be old. And if this becomes one I wouldn't call it forced. If you don't know, OU fans absolutely hate us. It's bc of how they felt they were treated in New Orleans in 03 and again how they were treated in the super regionals in 13. They're soft as charmin. Of course we stomped their dicks in in 2019. Then we had the Lincoln Riley storyline at the end of 2021. And under the radar they came in here and beat us in basketball in 2016 in really great environment in the pmac and in a really entertaining ballgame.

This could easily turn into something and I'm not against it one bit.

Speak for ourselves. I loved that Black Friday Arkansas game. No school or work, fridge full of Thanksgiving leftovers and enjoying my favorite team without a care in the world. Playing on Saturday like everybody else didn't hit as hard, and still doesn't.

Of that group? Should be LSU/Arkansas and OU/Mizzou
