If it's not the CFP, who really gives a shite? Should I be excited if the bball team makes the NIT just because I get to watch them play again? Hope the players get some good swag bags and a nice vacation, but my football calendar is marked for that Miami game. Oh, and save your time and don't post the payout difference between the Outback Bowl and Citrus Bowl. Don't get me wrong, I'll be rooting for our Tigers no matter what bowl they get

It matters only because of the matchup. Good bowl means matchup with high ranked team gives us an opportunity to be in the top 10. Bad bowl means no top 10. Final rankings are important to show recruits to have physical evidence of progression as a program.

Yeah, I could see that or any other reason that could lead to better recruiting. I was never recruited (ruled ineligible by NCAA Cornhole due to juicing allegations) so I'm never sure how much things like this really matter.

Citrus bowl kickoff at noon.
Outback bowl kickoff at 11am.

I will take the the extra hour of sleep. C'mon Citrus!

We need more bowls that are night games...

“Save” Middleton Library?

bullshite.

Raze that decrepit, leaking rathole and build a state-of-the-art library worthy of a state flagship university.

If we’re ranked 11-14 and we win our bowl game it doesn’t matter who we play. 3 teams between 6-10 will lose & we’ll be in the top 10 by default. That’s why I honestly wanted UCF because I think they’re the easiest win of all the teams ranked in front of us.

Nothing else to prove this year. Just wanna win the last game and finish in the top 10.

well, I don't care that you don't care.

Bowls are important to both the players and the coaches. and most real fans do indeed want the best possible bowl and matchup. personally, I love LSU. I also love LSU football. I want to see them play again this year.

your disrespect for bowls is pathetic imo. to you, it's the CFP or bust. well, only 4 teams make that and no team makes it every year.

I suggest that you not watch OUR football team and go watch YOUR playoff.

I agree. Bowls are a glorified exhibition game. Teams take weeks are in some cases a whole month off and then try to come back to play a football game in front of half empty stadiums. More likely than not the games suck because usually team wants to be there. The orher does not. And whether people want to admit it not, these days in college football, it is CFP or bust. Othewise coaches like Sunlin, Miles, Mora, graham, etc would still have jobs!

I don't care if it's Tampa or Orlando. I'll be balling out at either one. Last year got on the field with a liquor distributor buddy. Then LSU soundly destroyed the heisman winner.

With the initiation of the playoffs, there is a loss of significance on the national stage for the non-playoff bowls. Going back before the BCS, with traditional/conventional tie-ins you could be competing for a NC at any number of bowls.

However, bowls (non-playoff) still have some significance:

1. $$$$. Arms race in recruiting budgets, coaches salaries, stadium expansions, and other facilities. It counts.

2. 20 extra practices. Don't care if it's the worst bowl available, you take it for this. Btw, they don't take a month off. Yes, probably too much time off, for us fans and teams; but it's not a month. 4 weeks of practices and many coaches are already getting ready for next year. Those are gold.

3. Recruiting. That one is obvious. Note the early signing period doesn't change anything in regards to bowls. That period is only 2 days long (Dec 20 - 22). The JUCO period runs through the bowl games (Dec 20 - Jan 15) but that's not new. However, these 20 practices are a great time for visits. Younger players getting reps while experienced players are resting/recovering and hosting recruits. Plus if you're in a big bowl, you can talk up the game because you'll have a highly ranked opponent. The biggest benefit (if smart enough to take advantage) of a NY bowl, the NFL finishes week 17 Dec 31. You can get former players at these last minute practices with recruits.

As long as the Tigers play, I will watch them, so I guess it matters not to me Where they play this year or most, unless they are getting screwed, of course.

As far as the name of the bowl I don't care.

It doesn’t matter because I enjoy bowl season and the chance to see LSU play one more time regardless. If there’s a bowl game on I’m watching.

Four teams make the playoffs, so you’re going to shite on 120+ teams season because only four matter? GTF

You are a fair weather fan who feels entitled. CFB is entertainment, and I like going to and watching the Tigers anywhere, and like them playing on New Year’s Day b fore our the 8 month’s of no games.

I don't care at all. There may be tiers of bowls but for us it doesn't matter. Citrus, Outback, Peach its all the same. I'm not going to it so it's just a matter of who you hope to play or where you wanna travel
