When we either SWEEP moo-state or just win the series, an opening game win in Hoover would be vital for a National Seed in my opinion...therefore I vote for Poche' in game 1, Lange in game 2 only because Lange, who has been lights out has been working his arse, not to mention his badazzz right arm off bigtime and an extra day of rest versus a more potent SEC team would put us in good position to advance in Hoover...

got to go Lange or Poche on Wednesday

It definitely won't be Poche, assuming he pitches today. I wouldn't go Lange on short rest either since he threw 125 pitches yesterday.

I think you have to go someone outside of the normal rotation so that you can go Lange, Poche, Walker in the next three games and then be setup for normal rest going into the regional. Conference tournaments in college baseball are not optimal compared with how the rest of the postseason is setup.

No chance in hell Maineri starts a man on 4 days rest....just simply isn't in his blood.

A week + a day since his start last night?

Nah, he'll be fine pitching on Thursday next week after his normal one week between starts.

After three straight games over 100 pitches, I think they give him an extra days rest.

It will be Peterson. You don't rush out any of your weekend guys in the first game

a sweep of State and we are an absolute lock to be a national seed

He has been recently in the close games because of how dominant he has been on the mound. I'd like see him start the first round as a test run to see if he can really carry some innings in the post-season.

I think it is likely we will be the #2 seed in the SEC Ty even though we might get an SEC Championship trophy as well.

The above means we'll play our first game Wednesday at 1pm. No Lange or Poche or Walker then for sure.

I'd start Gilbert as the Hoover Met is his home (he pitched there as a starter in high school for their home games). Gilbert could give you 4 maybe 5 innings and then bring in Peterson.

Amen. Read the entire thread to see if anyone suggested this.

If we sweep and win the conference this weekend, I wouldn't throw Lange in the sec tournament. He's throw a lot of pitches the past 4 starts.

we have no way of knowing this, so i'd rather see at least one win in Hoover

If our first gsme is Wednesday, that eliminates the weekend starters for game 1.

Question becomes how much do we need at least one win?

If we need to win a game or two to lock up a national seed, I start Gilbert over Peterson and turn to Peterson if Gilbert falters.

Caleb pitched pretty well in Hoover last year, and if I were coach, he'd be starting game one Wednesday unless something bizarre happens this weekend and he's needed for more than an inning or two.

Mainieri told the media he'd start Alex Lange if LSU's first game was on Tuesday. His rationale was he wants Lange to have one last start in front of that many scouts.

Asked about Wednesday, he beat around the bush quite a bit

If Peterson sees the mound in postseason play LSU is in deep trouble. Or has a large lead.

If LSU sweeps I would only pitch Lange for about 50 pitches max if at all in the SEC tx.

If they need a few games to get a top 8 seed then I would still only throw him 50-75 pitches

If there is no shot at top 8 got to #1

Someone should get Mainieri a calendar. Not even counting this one, there are three weekends left before the draft.

I have a feeling something got lost in translation. There's no way Mainieri would think it's Lange's last time to throw in front of "that many scouts" or that there won't be just as many scouts the next day in Hoover.

Read this whole thread to see if anybody posted the name "Lindsey Scott".
Disappointed.
