Fans really didn’t support Wade outside of a few big sec games
I don’t think lsu will ever be all in on the basketball program

I don’t think LSU as a whole has institutional commitment to the program. Not very serious.

Someone with a little passion for winning. Nobody comes to mind....

Yes.
I also hope Verge is willing to take a risk on someone if he cannot secure a bigger name.
CMM was a lazy, uninspiring hire that Woodward could present as a win on paper. There was a string of hires out of Murray St that did not pan out when they jumped to better leagues. Why the hell was CMM going to be the exception.
Florida took a gamble on a young guy with a short resume.

Can you explain what that means?

I don’t think you understand modern basketball. It’s not 1982 and you walk the ball up the court and hold 2 fingers up and then pass it around 6 times and throw it to a big with his back to the basket
It’s all about pace and space, scoring at the rim and getting to the line or 3’s.
We had really high offensive efficiency numbers under Wade, top 10 in the country.
So no it wasn’t street ball

I still think Wade will remain at NC State for a few more years.
Someone mentioned Bryce Drew as someone to consider and I like that idea.

Besides that you can see the sets he runs so by definition it can’t be “street ball”. Either he’s parroting something he read here or he’s completely ignorant

I actually think Scott Drew will get a call. Things have gotten a little stale at Baylor recently. I wonder if he’d be up for a change of scenery? The Drew family has Louisiana ties also.

He turned down Kentucky last year and released a statement saying he was happy in Waco. It would a bit surprising if a year later he left...for what most would consider a "lesser" job than Kentucky. But I think LSU at least has to make a call...for multiple reasons:
1. Baylor is struggling this season and has been trending downwards for a few years. That would give me some pause for concern...but it also may open up a window for a change (similar to Cal going to Arkansas).
2. Scott was born in BR. But that's not very relevant given he and his family didn't live here very long. What's more relevant is that he's always recruited Louisiana well and has two guys on his staff who are from Louisiana.
3. Mulkey. Assuming they have a good relationship, then there is obvious familiarity there.
The odds of him leaving Baylor for LSU would be really, really, low. But then again, you probably could have said something similar about Mulkey. He would assuredly cost a LOT, which is a bit worrisome given the current downtrend, but it's still worth a call.

Yeah he obviously has no clue what he’s talking about.

The only real answer is Nick Saban.

I really think the only hope of getting Drew would be if Baylor decided that they were ready to move on. He dramatically raised the expectations for the program after that 2020 season, and then has proceeded to fall short since then. I think he's a good coach, I just think he's a hire that would raise the floor of the program but have a pretty low ceiling. He would have you in the tournament most years, but other than the 2020 season he's only made it past the Round of 32 4 times in 23 years with 13 tournament appearances. Imo that would be plenty good enough to keep LSU fans happy, but whether our expectations should be higher than that or not is another conversation

Like I said, I think best case scenario it would be similar to a Cal to Arkansas situation. Cal wasn't "bad" at Kentucky relative to college basketball on the whole. He just wasn't performing well enough for UK's high standards (which aren't LSU's). His first season at Arkansas he gets them going late and makes a run ALMOST to the Elite 8 (lost by 2 in OT in the Sweet 16). That was the furthest run he, personally, had made in 5 years. This season Arkansas is a top 25 program.
Consistently in the NCAAT with a reasonable chance to make a deep run is probably the reasonable high end of what LSU fans are looking for right now. I think that even though he has faded a bit recently, Drew could probably deliver that. Like you said, it would really just be a matter if both sides amicably felt it was a good time for each to go in a different direction.
