Whit Weeks…I would think he’d return for his fifth year of eligibility in 2027.

Regardless of whether he plays again this season, I would think he’d return for his fifth year of eligibility in 2027.

2023: Freshman
2024: Sophomore
2025: Junior
2026: Senior (currently injured)
2027: Fifth year of eligibility under the new NCAA rules

What say you?

Yeah I’m seeing him a round 3 or 4 sleeper. Dudes tough so could have a descent career. But probably time for him to move on.

I think it depends on how he feels. Does he feel it is worth it coming back for one more season? NIL money will play a big part in it too, but I think he is 50/50.

I think he’s one of the oddballs with this new 5th year. On one hand he has done plenty to get drafted, but I would imagine he sits in the 3-5th round due to injuries. From a true NIL perspective he’s one of the few that is actually worth the money he makes in endorsements. He’s the heart of the team and has been more than productive when on the field for 4 years. You can tell he truly loves LSU and I think it’s going to be one of the harder stay in college/go to the NFL decisions this year.

As we know he has been injured a lot so that will hinder his draft stock I would think. He said he came back to LSU because Blake Baker was coming back. If Blake stays I think he stays. If he is a 3rd or 4th rounder I would think the money will be close to what LSU will pay.

Weeks needs to move onto his next season of his life. Dude cannot stay healthy enough to play football anymore. It's time to move on.

I think he is a 5th rounder at absolute worst

If he is a 3rd or 4th round pick he could likely earn the same amount, maybe more, playing for LSU next season. The downside risk is always the potential for injury. However, the upside is earning the same or more next year at LSU as he would in the NFL with the chance to have a good season and improve his draft stock.

I think he returns

I doubt it. His next injury could be his last.

His injuries have been more in the nature of "freak" injuries (guys rolling up on his lower leg) rather than chronic injuries like muscle or ligament issues. Even if his future career is limited to earning $1-2M at LSU next year, and maybe $2M-$4M on an NFL rookie contract, that is a LOT of money relative to the overall working population for a guy in his early-mid 20's to earn.

There aren't a hell of a lot of jobs in his "next season of life" that would pay him anything close to that much.

I would imagine what he's made in NIL will allow him to slum it for a few years...If it hasn't, he's shitty with money.

This applies to literally everyone.

Hate to knock him, but he’s a bit undersized for the NFL, by roughly 20 pounds. He’s strong enough to hold up just fine in the SEC, so might not be a big deal in the eyes of the scouts. Just worried his body won’t be able to hold up trying to tackle the bigger NFL backs, although the bigger Derrick Henry types don’t exist much anymore.

I think there’s a real conversation to be had about him returning next year, depending on where they project his guaranteed signing bonus.

Between revenue share and NIL, he could be looking at $1 million next year to stay at LSU. If he manages to stay healthy for a full season, he raises his stress stock for 2028 and makes more on that end as well.

On the other hand, with his injuries, it might be best for him to move on now.

I would think a 5th year in this NIL era would benefit him way more than going to the draft this year.

I’m leaning to him coming back. I think he is an excellent college LBer, but that may not translate to the NFL. He also comes from a family that’s pretty well off. Making a little extra at the next level is not nearly as critical in his situation. I think he also genuinely enjoys the college atmosphere, and would likely want one more year of that. You bring back Whit along with all these young dudes on the DLine, Pickett, Woodland, Spears on backend that’s a pretty returning crew.
