Which true freshman do you see starting or playing significant time this year?

The portal has really hurt freshmen's contribution in college football, but besides the three you mentioned, I think the only others who have a shot are:

Corey Barber: highly rated WR. I only include him because it seems like that group is wide open. There isn't a dude who you know will take over.

Trenton Henderson: Rush end could get backup reps

Havon Finney Jr: CB Depth behind Pickett and Woodland is unknown

Finney might be cb3 this year

Havon Finney might be the next #3 CB on the roster, so I think he'll get some time.

Martinez may get a look at Tackle, especially if Davis struggles.

The OL depth is so bad (No better than the last few years) that he could very well see some playing time if he learns his assignments quickly. (Hardest part for a young OL)

it totally doesn't matter how big and strong you are if you don't know your reads and who to block.

OL is 5 playing as 1, not 5 individuals doing their own thing. (Ths was a massive problem under BK with Sylvester Davis coaching OL)

Feels like it could be any of the 3 DTs. Guessing game honestly, but I think we know for sure we'll get at least 1 freshman to be a key contributor on this team.

What I'm most interested in is who returning from last year's team will take a big step up. I have a few guys in my head that could really change the outlook for this team if they take a big leap from 2025 to 2026:

Weston Davis
- Would solidify the OL from left to right. We know we're set at LT and C, so a solid RT would really give me a lot of confidence in the line as a whole.

Dahvon Keys / Tylen Singleton
- If either of these guys steps up to being a high caliber SEC LB, that would give us 3 really good LBs. That's a recipe for a nasty defense.
- Charles Ross, Keylan Moses, and Zach Weeks could also factor in here, but I feel like Keys and Singleton are clearly above them. Would love to be wrong there.

Damien Shanklin / Dylan Carpenter
- Feels like we're missing depth at DE. Jordan Ross is clearly a fantastic athlete, but I feel like his production is still a bit of a question mark. Shanklin or Carpenter stepping up would give us a really strong pass rush alongside Umanmielen.

Caden Durham
- No one is talking about Caden now that Harlem owns this backfield, but if he can have a healthy 2026, this running game is going to be unstoppable with him and Harlem. Dilin Jones appears like he will factor in as well, but I don't think he has the home run ability that Durham has.
