Saban set what the standard should be.

Saban defied the mediocre mindset that kept this program shackled for decades.

Hal Hunter set Saban up for success. Never lost a game at LSU.

Once burrow and miles' coaches left we saw what O was. Your continued nut gargle of the worst lsu coach in the last 30 years is astounding. He wasn't even the reason Burrow came here. He then left lsu in the worst shape since Denardo took over. But by all means keep sucking him off.

Without O there would have been no Burrow,

O didn't recruit burrow. It was lsu or Cincy for Burrow. Burrow had a relationship with another lsu coach that O DID NOT hire.

Orgeron changed the offensive philosophy no doubt. He renovated the offensive dide of the ball.

Explain how a career dline coach changed the offensive philosophy and renovated the offensive side of the ball. And please be specific.

Les had the most talented teams but coaching kept him from wining the one he got lucky to play for.

You're clearly not familiar with the program.

The question was which coach left us with the greatest legacy. Do you think a spoiled, arrogant fanbase is great?

I think the type of program that produces that is

Go back to the beginning of his tenure again;

11-2, complete beatdown of nationally feared Miami... including the postgame brawl. Miami ALWAYS won those, against Colorado, against Texas, etc. WE kicked their arse on the field, and in the tunnel.

11-2, total domination of nationally respected Notre Dame. They had the golden boy QB, but our QB outperformed him on the biggest stage and became the #1 pick.

12-2, with an arse-whipping of nationally respected Ohio State. We took their best shot, and then overwhelmed them.

We always used to pride ourselves with a respectable showing (but a loss) vs those types of teams; suddenly WE were the big dog.

Miles maintained it. Won a national championship and played for another.

The Miles decade was the greatest 10 year stretch in LSU history. Kept LSU in the championship race right up until the end of his run. That was fun to watch.

You really think Orgeron left a great legacy?

Again, that was Burrow's team. O didn't leave shite here except a program on the brink of failure.

You are just a pitiful, hateful human being. You must be a Democrat.

Yeah its the dems that are hateful. Our side has no history of hating people. The hypocrisy is glaring.

actual losses were cause of outrage

It was the way many of the games were lost-- poor clock management and the offense suddenly going into a shell late, after dominating the 1st 3 quarters (cf loss to Clemson 2012, near-miss to N. Carolina 2010 are just two of numerous examples). Also he should have been fired in 2015 after that horrendous three-game skid after a 7-0 start. The Tigers weren't even competitive in those three games.

Saban made mention of it many times, including his initial press conference

Just double checked the transcript to make sure, but he never mentioned anything about fans or the brook trout look in that first press conference. And the comments he made about the fans later were about the "catastrophe syndrome", which is the shell-shock I was referring to. The "brook trout look" was his term for the players when they were caught off guard in a game situation because they were unprepared and unfocused.

The '03 UGA game was a great demonstration of LSU fans, to be sure. But that intensity had been there before. In fact, DiNardo had specifically revived it immediately prior to Saban arriving. The '95 Auburn game, and of course the '97 Florida game, were perfect examples of that. The only time in our history (at least the last 50+ years of it that I witnessed) that we didn't have it was the later years of Hallman during the depths of our dark age. That crowd that was there to cheer LSU to victory over UGA in '03 was a direct echo of the crowd that cheered us over Auburn in the Earthquake Game, FSU in the Oranges game, and SC in the Stolen Game. And dozens, if not hundreds, of other games throughout the decades.

Saban brought a lot of things to LSU that we had never seen. Crowds like that were not one of them.

Not. Even. Close.

O's worst year -- WORST -- was better than Hallman's BEST YEAR.

I saddens me that people forget that. THIS is how you get entitled Bama fans.

Im going with the tradition we built at LSU over a span of many years. Through our first NC in 1908, to the last in 2019. Our storied history is something to be proud of. Many great coaches on the list, who didn’t win a championship, but all had a part of making this program what it is. With all that being said… im going with Dietzel.
