Racist.

I expect, as usual, all the highly drafted guys to go...mostly since teams are unlikely to draft a guy they aren't positive will sign. That said, I think NIL will be a factor for a few others.

Mitchell will sign
Johnson is a 1-2 round talent. I think he’ll come to an agreement with a team (gut feeling)
Miliam
Brown
Lape
Larson
Are all the ones to watch
Are all draft threats

This is not like last years class, where we had a bunch of top 100 guys to sweat out.
Mitchell will go in the first round and I haven't read anything suggesting him coming to school.
Johnson is a big lefty with a big arm. His size 6'5" would indicate he has more potential and like Adam said, he is probably gone.
Milan is on the smaller size and lacks power potential. I think he gets to campus.
Brown is a lefty ranked right outside the top 100 and I think he makes it to campus as well.
Lape has been dropping in the rankings and that just favors him coming to campus.
Larson is an outfielder with hitting potential. I think he makes it to campus but don't feel really confident.
What is a more interesting topic is "who on our current roster stays?".

Blake Mitchell is the only sure thing
Cameron Johnson is a raw LHP that throws 98, he could potentially sign
Steven Milan is a 5’7” MIF with some tools that could also sign
Barring any unforeseen jumps, those are the only true threats,

Lape had TJ late in the spring. I think any chance he has to get picked is gone. Probably wont be able to play next year.
I’m with you on Larson. I read a recent interview with him and the draft seems to be plan A and B with LSU being the last resort.

Jake Brown is not a draft risk.

quote:do we? PG’s 2023 class rankings have us ranked #12. Lowest since 2017 with only 3 top 100 recruits. Arkansas has 13 top 100 recruits.
We have an insane recruiting class right now. Top 7 could all be drafted very high. I expect we get 3 or 4 of them though

Yea but how many make it to campus?
Let JJ cook in the portal and let’s see how it all looks after the smoke clears

They’ve got a bunch that are ranked around where all of our guys were ranked last year. The draft might not be as kind to them, but they have a class that any college coach would trade for right now.

I mentioned this in another thread. I wonder if the Taylor/Shores/Edwards injuries changes how Jay recruits these high school guys a bit. There’s only so many spots. If you just assume you’re gonna get hit with a couple of big arm guys you’re counting on to get hurt, does he take fewer guys with incoming arms injuries with the intention of them not really being big time contributors until year 2 or 3. Some will be too good to pass on, but we were Hurd, Cooper, Floyd, Ack, Guidry, etc…from ALL stepping up from “wasting” an all-time offensive lineup.
May just chalk it up to an abberationally unlucky year with arms. Or may take fewer risks on incoming guys with injuries already. Or may use an extra spot or 2 on arms than position guys. Or may make no difference whatsoever and I’m just just wasting key strikes per usual.

Current transfer portal changes everything
Just look at this year. Skenes, Hurd, Cooper were all key pitching transfers. White this year and Berry last year were key hitters. Great recruiting classes are no longer necessary to have a great program.

Tell that to LSU 2022 class

This.
You can't really pick guys around if they have surgery or not.

Can G. Taylor with the TJ participate next spring? Gotta think he is a weekend arm if healthy
