Man idk how a guy like that can see Skenes/Crews and not want to follow that path, especially with NIL to hold him over.

Most likely LSU and is developing as a pitcher. Is up to 97mph and slider looking good.

Seems like the Royals are being linked to Mitchell at #8. That carries a slot value of just under $6MM. Hard to improve on that. Even Crews would not have went that high had he not pulled his name out of the 2020 draft. He was going to get picked at the back end of the 1st round.

But will he be pitching in an LSU uniform or a MILB uniform? He’s a big one to keep an eye on.

That’s a good question. He’s a late second round projection from what I’ve read. He made a lot of money with how he pitched in the cape last year.

If we are going to get technical about the seasons, spring actually lasts into the CWS.

Lester is probably correct. I would not expect Taylor to be ready in the spring. Mid-season. And draft risk is real. He might not be with us next year.

Yeah I highly doubt Taylor is pitching competitively prior to SEC play next season.

Everyone is different somewhat returning from TJ but lets keep in mind Coleman never successfully "came back" from his surgery in Feb last year this year. He was used out of the bullpen mostly and had command issues. Some guys can come back and look good right away and others take some time. Taylor is just a variable for next year but I wouldnt expect him to factor in the rotation at all. I would think they bring him out the pen like Coleman in the back half of the season after he's had 13.5-14 months to recover before throwing in a game.

Just dont think you can think of Taylor as a starter at any point next year, it would be great if he can pull something like that off later in year, but just cant be counted on.

I'd love to have Taylor back, but just don't see it happening. I could see negotiations with him happening where he goes in round 3-5, uses the go back to school card, and then gets way above slot money.

Problem with college ball is there is no extended spring training, working your way back through the lower levels, or coming back after the All-Star Break. The condensed mid-February to late May/early June schedule really means you are ready to go or you aren't.

2024 recruit, but I know someone in Konnor Griffin's family and there is pretty much zero chance he attends college.

He’s ranked as either the first or second best high school prospect in the nation for the class of 2024. That likely means he’ll be a top 10 pick. I would agree with you. Barring a drastic drop in his draft stock, he won’t be attending school.

This is baseball. The key is what the class looks like AFTER the draft. Plus, we only have 14 commits compared to 21 for Arkansas. We get the majority of those and do work in the portal again, we will be just fine.

Mitchell is expected to be drafted around #8 right now which comes with a signing bonus of $6M.

Mitchell would be crazy not to take that and NIL is never coming anywhere close to competing with a $6M check.
