I guess my point is do the best with what you can control. I think that's the best mantra to live by here, and in life in general.

I agree, and I think we've been doing that by and large for the better part of the past 20 seasons. We've invested a ton in the program, were at the forefront of paying coaches King's ransoms when we made Saban the highest paid coach multiple times, we've recruited as well as anyone, reinvested into the stadium, etc. We're literally doing the work.

If we had a better program than them, a Bama-biased SEC would have to undertake far more overt means or cheating us out of our rightful place as the cream of the SEC crop.

True. The flip side of that is that if there is, indeed, any shenanigans going on at the SEC, it aids to making our best efforts not quite good enough...so that we have to be EVEN BETTER than our best (which has been pretty damn incredible for most of this run) to even get out of the SECW.

What if it were Arkansas that was claiming collusion? Who would take them seriously?

If their point was that the SEC office resides in Birmingham, that the head of officials is a Alabama alumnus, that the person in charge of scheduling is a Alabama alumnus, that there is at least one working game day official that is an Alabama alumnus (even though he can not directly work BAMA games he can work SECW games) and that most of the day to day staff work and live in the echo-chamber that is Alabama all year long.

And sure...on the field results matter. But what matters more should be the question being raised...not who is raising it. The legitimacy of the claim should not be dependent on who's making it. honestly...it would probably carry more weight if it DID come from Arky or hell, let's say Vandy...because then many wouldn't automatically assume it's simply sour grapes. You'd be forced to actually listen to the claims and asses them rather than automatically dismissing them because it's a true rival that can't get back over the hump.

What’s funny is that y’all think Bama would be any less dominant wherever the SEC offices were located.

Sounds good...let's move it to NOLA.

quote:

As for why it’s located there...maybe it’s a central location in the south ??

Which would make perfect sense if everyone was walking there, idiot. What would make more sense would be to locate it in a city where it would be a direct flight from anywhere...oh, I don't know...Atlanta?

But nah...Birmingham makes total sense...

They are NOT uprooting the entire physical plant and staff.

You want change, advocate for independent refs from outside the conference, whether NCAA/national or some sort of cross-conference arrangement.

Let’s win an inch before we go shooting for miles upon miles

Atlanta is the only viable location for the office. Easy air access from everywhere, diversified population from all
Over the SE, the home of the SECCG, and the CFB Hallmof Fame. Nashville does not cover these boxes.

Memphis is about as much of a “middle” of different programs as you’re going to get. But why not make two offices outside the SEC? One in somewhere like Dallas or Houston and another one somewhere like in Charlotte, NC?

OK then, gee, that's all there is to it. Didn't realize the answer was so simple. Just string together a few #1 recruiting classes. Better let Coach O know about this.

He’s right. We’re losing because we haven’t been good enough. I can’t think of a single Bama game we lost because of a call. Folks will point to the PP7 interception, but we lose that game anyway. JJ was helpless against their defense.

If it makes no difference why would the gumps care and try to keep it from happening.

Were it me and I did not believe it helped my team, I would support the move to end the whining.

For what it's worth, I would be totally ok with that.

I think so. Funny how LSU was still heavily penalized under Saban at LSU. Miraculously, the gump players are so much more disciplined...even the ones he brings from Louisiana.

You’re right that we have not been as “good” as Bama. But why should Bama get the advantages that goes with having the SEC office in their backyard, staffed with Bama grads/fans? To remove even the appearance of impropriety, it should be moved.

Nashville is a Gump town. I believe the largest number of Gump grads outside of the state of Alabama is in Nashville.
