Tre also would've batted around .375 without the shift this season. I've never seen anyone get robbed on potential base hits as much as Morgan.

Eddy only got hit by a pitch 5 times while Tre' took 47 for the Tigers.
Bruh...
Look, I like Tre' a lot, but the Dick Howser Trophy carries a lot of water in the sport.

I think ppl are downplaying Tre’s bat a little.
He did bat like 340 & the second half of the World Series was straight loud outs.
Way different era, but tre’s bat to ball skills & eye at the plate are really good. I saw him have like one bad AB, and it was vs Caglione with a hard shadow on home.
Not saying he’s Furniss or Hawpe, but I’m curious what kinda numbers those guys would have put up playing in 2023. He doesn’t touch their slugging, but damn man 3/4 the board wanted Tre hitting leadoff — give him some credit.

No shame in being behind Furniss. Furniss was an all time college great. Tre will probably have a better major league career

Defensive GOAT. That squeeze play against Wake Forest is the stuff of legends.
It's strange given how much amazing memories there are from this CWS, but that play is what stands out more than any other. It'll be the main thing I remember from this title run followed by Tanks walkoff HR.

why do some of you do some research, then you will find joe bill adcock played at lsu and then in the big leagues for over 15 years. do you really think that lsu baseball juststarted in1984. get serious

The bats and balls then are much closer to what they play with today and much different than just 6 years ago.

You don’t know that

Do people really sit around an come up with these threads?

If y’all haven’t seen any Brad Hawpe reels, I suggest you do. My section just gave up and called him Hoover for the rest of the season. He could grab anything.

Come on man Morgan is in his prime, Hawpe is 4( and Furniss is 47. No way Tre’ doesn’t dominate in 2023.

RBI 232 to 149
HR 52 to 20
Now let's look where Tre' was in the lineup and
notice Tre' had 5 more runs than Eddy.
You do realize Eddy only had ONE more hit than Tre' in 3 years, right?
257 to 256. If Tre' played another year he'd SMASH Eddy's record.[/quote]
I'm a Crusader and Tiger like Tre' and love his play and attitude. His former HS coach is a relative of mine and he loves Tre' immensely.
Furniss finished his 4-year career as the SEC’s all-time leader in hits (352 - in 3 years Tre' 256), home runs (80 - Tre' 20), RBI (309 - Tre' 149), doubles (87 - Tre' 49), and total bases (689 - Tre' 383).
In NCAA ANNALS, Furniss finished his CAREER No. 3 ALL-TIME in total bases, No. 4 in home runs and doubles, and No. 5 in RBI.
Also for Career: BA Eddy .371 - Tre' .332; BB Eddy 191 - Tre' 85; RUNS Eddy 261 -Tre' 180; Slug% Eddy .727 - Tre' .497; OBP Eddy .479 Tre' .424 (I used your numbers for HBP because I couldn't find Eddy's); OPS Eddy 1.206 - Tre' .921.
So to beat Eddy's career total hits Tre' would need 97 hits in his 4th year (doable as he has averaged 85 hits/year, but it would not smash Eddy's record). Tre' would need 306 TB's (avg'd 128/yr so far); 60 HR's(would be new NCAA record - I would welcome that!), 106 BB (!), 38 2B, 160 RBI (a new NCAA record).
Sorry, bruh, I gotta go with Eddy based on 39-point higher career batting average, career OBP 55 points higher, career slugging% 230(!) points higher with career OPS 285 points higher. Those are huge numbers.
