It was obviously most of the team didn't want to play the last blow out loss in the SEC tourney.

Actually, for the most part, they quit several games ago...

Joe Lunardi just stated that the SEC will likely receive 13 bids to the NCAA tourney, Texas being the last team in, via a play-in game for a #12 seed. Oklahoma is one of the first four out, and such they'll get one of the NIT bids. I would wager that South Carolina receives the other bid, based on Kenpom and Torvik, and also the likelihood they could fill up their Colonial Life Arena. Also, SC has an illustrious relationship with the NIT, winning it twice

Lunardi did and update at 9:20 tonight, he now has both Oklahoma and Texas making it. Same for Jerry Palm and others. If this is accurate, LSU and South Carolina will get the NIT invites.

Getting an NIT bid is worse than playing ULL in the New Orleans Bowl.

This is a good question with many variables.

LSU preemptively declined a possible NIT invitation in Ben Simmons season under CJJ. And we wasted away another season going 2-16 SEC lame duck.

LSU only got the CoachMc NIT bid last season because Ole Miss declined the NIT.

Accepting an NIT bid isn't usually a good thing for P4 unless on the come up and wanting more games.

If - for LSU - we accept the auto KNIT determined bid, then that's further testament that we're locked into this losing program.

It's time for a reset, not NIT.

I wonder if we would even have a roster to play in NIT. Chest and Vyc are clearly gone and didnt travel with the team to SECT.

I’m sure there is a Tuba player or two, but I get you.

I’m diehard and don’t want NIT. It would mean nothing at all. Just a FU to the true MBB fans.

Idk what i want. I'd like Woodward to get off his arse, can McMahon, and bring in a high energy coach with a vision. Getting embarrassed in G1 of the NIT probably doesnt get us any closer to that happening.

Mercy please?
Quick death over prolonging the agony.
We have already suffered enough.

... would be the best thing possible for the current morescent LSU MBB program. Losing a home game first round NIT to some weak sister mid-major team might finally knock some sense into Scotty

I'm not sure. Woodward has no incentive to initiate discussions on canning McMahon. It would be an admission he made a bad hire.

Pressure has to come from donors or higher ups for it to happen i think.

deathvalleyfreak43, it’s your turn to select a category.

Ok, Alex. I’ll take “Delusional Thoughts” for $1000.

If the players want to play another game then let them play. If not, just decline the bid. It’s a waste of time. They’ve had countless practices over the course of 6 months and 30+ games. Two more practices and 1 meaningless game isn’t going to be “beneficial for next year. Particularly when it will be a significantly new roster.

Worse would be if LSU got a home game. Last season was McMahon’s “good” year and LSU could barely get 2,000 (if that many) to show up for a NIT game.

We’re turning down a bid even if we’re eligible.
