Say what you wish but the 2011 LSU team that Miles assembled and put on the field is the greatest team in college football history. No other team will ever match what it accomplished and it should have a banner beside its name.
LSU beat the National Champion on the road, the Orange Bowl Champion on the road, the Rose Bowl Champion at a neutral site and the Cotton Bowl Champion at home.
No other team has come close to matching this.

So Choctaw is moving into talking about unicorns and lipstick lesbians now. You know, things that aren't real.

Surely you can see why some think those who think Saban was the best coach in LSU history are retarded.

I'm not trying to be one of those guys, but Saban was here only 5 years... You cannot compare these numbers. If he is here the same number of years as Miles, let's say 10, his numbers will exceed them and if you question that then you are retarded. Not to mention Saban inherited a team that had 3 wins the previous year... Miles inherited a team that won the National Championship just 12 months prior.
Carry on.

will it be unanimous that he's the greatest football coach in LSU history?
He already is this to people that understand cfb.
He has 7 of lsu's 13 10 win seasons.
He has one of the best win % in sec history.
He has THE best ooc win % in sec history.
He accomplished all these things during the most successful era of sec football, EVER.
Only an idiot would deny that he has been our most successful coach. His 10 years stretch is,by far, the most successful 10 year stretch in lsu history.

11/5/11 was deemed the game of the century. Miles out coached Saban. It was supposed to be the most important game all year because it would eliminate one of the teams.

Holy shite.
4 losses (2000)
3 losses (2001)
5 losses (2002)
1 loss (2003)
3 losses (2004)

miles coached here twice as long as Saban but only ties him in number of national and SEC titles
Yeah its a shame Miles cant win the sec west with 3 losses like saban did in 2001. I swear this board gets dumber and dumber

go back and look at the lack of o-linemen signed in Saban's last couple of recruiting classes and you may want to re-think this.

Really?

It's retarded not too. The numbers represent their individual bodies of work at LSU. Saban did what he did while at LSU and Miles did what he did while at LSU. The topic is LSU coaches and who had the greatest success. Too bad Saban kicked LSU in the nuts and left. If he hadn't, he might have had as much success as Les has enjoyed at LSU.

So? What does that have to do with which LSU coach has had the most success? Face it, bro, Miles is the most successful LSU coach in history whether you like it or not.

In your pipe dream scenario of Miles winning another SEC and national title it still would have taken Miles 11-15 years to win just one more title than Saban did in his first 4 seasons. Having 1 more title in 3 times the amount of time doesn't exactly make it a closed case.
Bear Bryant - 6 NCs in 24 years coaching (18 years between titles, 1 every 3 years)
Wallace Wade and Nick Saban - 3 NCs in 8 years (6 years between titles, 1 every other year)
Using your criteria of efficiency in championships, Bear Bryant is the third best coach in Bama football history. Alert the Gumps.
Loyalty and commitment to the program, consistency, wins, etc. have nothing to do with ranking best coaches?

Its sad the lsu "fans" shite on the program's accomplishments just because they dont like the coach. Its fricking ignorant. What kind of fan base shits on its program's most successful 10 year stretch just because they dont like or agree with the coach.

Miles inherited a 3 loss program that had lost less than 3 games in a season, 3 times in 50 years. Also, Saban walked into a stacked roster as well.

I like Miles and what he's done for LSU. But I hate to admit it but the best coach in the history of college football was once the HC at LSU. And he won a natty here and set the table perfectly to win a second (kinda like Jimmie Johnson did with Barry Switzer in the NFL).
And, no, his surname isn't Miles.

Saban isn't even the best coach in college football today...

So you mean have a season like saban usually did at LSU? Yet he's the best LSU has ever had? Yeah OK.

Bingo.
Plus Les got to recruit Louisiana after Katrina destroyed the strongest area of recruiting in this state. It didn't fully recover until 5 recruiting cycles into his tenure.

I'm not a big fan of his coaching, but if he guides the program to another national title, I will acknowledge him as the best coach in LSU history.
With that said, I'd just be happy to see an NFL caliber quarterback fully developed under his guidance. That alone would have probably netted LSU multiple national titles already.
