Surely you can see why some think those who think Saban was the best coach in LSU history are retarded.

Nice numbers turd. but you're comparing the numbers of a coach that was here 5 years versus one that has been here 10.

SEC winning percentage for both is 70%

NC game winning %: Saban 1/1 (100%)
Miles 1/2 (50%)
I think Saban has an edge here...just a wild stab.

What?? You don't think if Saban had stayed for 10 years his numbers/percentages/NCs/SEC titles wouldn't be higher than Miles?? Whose retarded???

Well, was your question which guy was the greatest coach LSU ever had or which guy had longer term success?

I mean, those are two different questions.

Oh, and it's cute that you said "when Les" wins another NC. I mean, I hope he does. But, what if he spends the next several years ranging between 7-10 wins while never winning another SEC title? Would you call him the greatest?

Ding. So, he could probably go 5-7 for the next 5 years and you'd say that making this entire thread sort of silly.

I know that.....but Groupee is throwing out numbers as if their tenure was the same.

Once again...I'll pose the question. You don't think Saban's numbers would be equal to/beyond Les's numbers had he have stayed?

make up your mind. you can't quote a response and then change the statement i was responding to.

did you ever even answer the question posed in the OP?

I already think he is the best football coach in LSU history. The greatest single coach? Nah that would be Mr National Title himself Skip Bertman

If he did BOTH of those things, I would say he had the most long term success.

"Greatest" is a different question. If he coaches 4 more years, he'll have the "most wins" even if all he does is win 8.5 per year. That's not exactly going to add much gleam so, meh. So, time frame sort of matters. I mean, if he coached 8 more years, won 1 more title, and averaged 7 wins per season in the other 7, then meh.

But yeah, it would be the best long term success. Not "greatest".

Miles is the most successful LSU coach in history whether you like it or not

I couldn't care less who anyone thinks is the most successful, but comparing their numbers is ridiculous.

Les Miles has done more, period. It's plain and simple. Is he a better coach than Saban? No. But he is the best coach to ever coach at LSU because he has done more for the program.

Only if he wins another NC will I be satisfied enough to say that. 2007 is a long time when your arch rival won 3 in that span

True, 2007 is a long time ago, and I'm sure I'll get backlash for saying this, but because that ridiculous BCS system was still in place for the 2011-2012 season, we were forced to play Bama a second time, when clearly we should have played Oklahoma State & LSU would have beat them hands down & Les would have his 2nd NC trophy, however he was not prepared, lost the game, and we all know the rest. We will get there again, sooner than later I hope!

I was wondering how long it would take for you to come out of the baseboards, Alabama troll that you are.

If this or if that don't mean shite. Saban has the record he has at LSU and Les has the record he has at LSU. What idiots like you want to do is punish Les for a real record at LSU and at the same time reward Saban for what you THINK he would have done if he had remained. The BS of that type retarded thinking must be reaching your eye ball level.

Les took LSU to two NCGs and Saban took LSU to one. I think Les has the edge here...just a wild stab. And frick off with the Les was here longer BS. The topic is LSU coaches and their success. Not LSU coaches and what I think their success would have been had they not left LSU.
