Jay looking like Coach O after 2019 NC but at least O had covid. The good thing about baseball is there are plenty of games to turn it around. Here's to hoping.

Brother, Orgeron and Johnson are about the same as chalk and cheese.

They’ve looked bad and you can say coaching has been bad without wanting to fire everyone.
Hanagriff said yesterday they are playing bad baseball and he’s right. The pitchers are walking to many and hitters are not hitting.
Now that we got that out of the way what exactly is the point of blaming the coach if you are not advocating for replacing him? Can you tell me what “coaching” moves you see that need to be corrected? Is he trotting out the exactly same lineup each game? Never replacing pitchers? Not mixing up the rotation? What’s different in the coaching this year and Why did he change his coaching from a year ago?

The coach is the ultimate man responsible. I personally think Jay is one of the best college baseball coaches out there and am ecstatic to have him here
I’m saying that, he needs to turn this season around. There is zero excuse to ever miss the tournament here. Zero. So I fully expect him to turn this into a tournament team minimum. CPM did it once(outside of his first season).

So he did it twice

ETA: 2020 was shaping up to be a disaster too.

Counting the coaches first year when taking over a disaster is disingenuous. I thought you were a poster capable of having real emotionless baseball discussion
It’s irrational to want Jay Johnson fired right now or completely shite on him. It’s also irrational to make excuses for him if he doesn’t turn this season around somewhat .

I don't think that it's unfair to criticize being dogshit. Do you?
No, constructive criticism comes part and parcel with bad results. "Blame Jay" and "this team is dogshit" isn't constructive. It's estrogen fueled emotion.

This team is playing very bad and timid baseball right now. Jay would straight up admit that. Hell, he already has

Just pointing out that he did it twice. You can speak the truth while also pointing out that he doesn’t deserve the blame for it, which he doesn’t.
Like I said, 2020 was shaping up to be a disaster before Covid shut it down.

The SEC schedule is front loaded. If they pull their heads out of their arse they can make a run. We will see what happens.

I fully expect Jay to turn this year around. I would bet money on it. But if he doesn’t I’m not going to simply say “who cares he won the natty last year”. I would say it’s unacceptable here and 2025 needs to be a massive improvement
Florida lost Two front end starters in their rotation and lost 4 starting positional players. They weren’t much better off than us. At the end of the year I expect us to be on par with Florida. They are struggling as well, but have managed to pull out the close SEC games that we can’t seem to do

I wouldn’t say I expect it. This team doesn’t have any leaders and has no identity.

They’re 16-11 also with some bad losses. Their schedule is more backloaded. It will be interesting to see where these two teams finish.

There's plenty of blame to go around.

next year.
I think he expected some guys to take a jump they didn’t.
Obviously, it’s hard to replace Crews,
Morgan, Beloso, Dugas and Thompson.
This team has 6 JRs and Srs recruited out of HS
Travinski
Milazzo
Hellmers
Dutton
Coleman
Pearson
last year we had 5 in our starting lineup.
so we’re relying on transfers Sophmores and true Freshmen

He won that NC title with primarily Maineiri’s recruits.
C'mon man.
Skenes, Hurd, White, and Cooper were all major contributors of whom none were CPM guys.

Now that we got that out of the way what exactly is the point of blaming the coach if you are not advocating for replacing him?
Because you can still think that someone is a great coach while acknowledging that he can do some things differently to possibly improve the team.
quote:
Is he trotting out the exactly same lineup each game?
No, but saying "when Milazzo plays, we win" then not playing Milazzo at all while you are steadily losing games is weird. I'm not even advocating for Milazzo to start every game, but no one forced Jay to say that.

Never replacing pitchers?
There have been a few games in which I believe he has left a pitcher in for too long.

Do you think that coaching strategies should stay the same from year to year?

People who make claims about "only won with X players" definitely don't know the make up of the roster RE: which recruiter each player committed to.
Last year's roster had this breakdown:
Andy Cannizaro 1 (Dugas)
Nolan Cain 26
Jay Johnson 3 (while we didn't have named RC)
Dan Fitzgerald 9
Josh Jordan 2
It's not the best way to break it down, but it's the most consistent.
ETA: Here is this year's breakdown:
Nolan Cain 20
Jay Johnson 4
Dan Fitzgerald 11
Josh Jordan 9
The incoming 2024 recruiting class is the first one that will have no leftover recruits from the previous staff.

When it's a full Jay recruited and paid for team and doesnt win like in 2 more yrs. Looked pretty rough last night. It will only get worse next yr. If he will lose this year, he should lose with his freshman
