High expectations based on a lot of returning starters but they have a new coach so I'm not totally sold on them being so high on them.

In most polls Mississippi State is rated over LSU. I get that preseason polls are meaningless and i don’t really care where there are rated. I just find it interesting a team with a new coach and a qb coming off a serious injury is thought of so highly.
I think we're both in the mid-lower teens, so that isn't thought of "highly". It means people think both teams will be good/not great.

Let's see- both 9-4 last year. Miss St beat us 37-7.
If you were to ask me to rate a couple of Big 10 also-rans (NOT teams that won their divisions), both had the same record last year, and one blew the other out, I'd pick the team that won, not the team with more history.

Good question. I see 3 losses easy. QB and defense maybe ? They lose to LSU, BAMA and Auby... He bangs up his leg again... Fitz will not have the same cuts and speed after that break from last year.

I should also add State finished 4-4 in the West last year, LSU was 6-2.

You gonna ignore the fact LSU played UGA and Kentucky in place of horrid UF andthe East’s worst team in Tennessee?

If LSU played UGA last year, they would’ve lost too.

They lost to Bama at the last second while LSU basically lost to them in the first half.

The only reason they had a worse SEC record was that Auburn didn’t chcoke away the win against them and Fitzgerald went out in their rivalry game for almost all of it. Add in them playing UGA instead of UF, and they’d have had a better record.

Who you play matters and that is a fact.

People look deeper than your shallow record which is ridiculously inflated for LSU last year.

Yes State beat LSU, but in the end they were not a top SEC West team
Again, we're talking about national perception of 2 teams that both finished 9-4. Nobody is going to care that much about conference records. We play in the same conference, had the same overall record, and they skull-drug us.

UGA, Auburn and Alabama were the top 3 teams in the conference.

Man oh man. It takes some balls to say that about a team that made LSU quit not even 12 months ago.

Your enthusiasm is contagious.

However, they have been trending up for several years, ole miss is dealing with sanctions, and they return 18 starters. It’s not hard to see why people are talking about them.

I guess we need to just not play that game then in your eyes? Big x factor that a lot of people are overlooking is the fact that Mullen isn't the coach there anymore.

People tend to forget that that was at the beginning of the season when our offense was a cluster frick and how depleated we were in the trenches on both sides of the ball

It's a whole diff situation this year

Thanks Nostradamus.
We beat Auburn when they were healthy. A healthy Auburn beat Geogia.

LSU ‘s line was in shambles that week. I believe a couple freshmen getting their first starts. Along with playing an amped up team on the road and getting a couple of key bad calls early in the game. It snowballed from there but wasn’t a true indication of either team, (other than demonstrating how inconsistent and young and immature Lsu was last year).

The talent gap should always favor lsu and I think we put moo state back in their place this year.

the team folded like a cheap lawn chair after the Sullivan OPI. that falls on the coach to get his team to remember its not even 5 minutes into the game.
