I’m actually for it. Of course the Superdome for the road trip is a must. Could be our rivalry game week as well. Showing my age but had some fun times growing up going to those games especially in the old Tulane stadium.

Well I guess it has a chance since fat Scott decided to make our program play teams it shouldn’t play.

The issue was Tulane wanted special treatment last time.

Tulane is the same as ULL and ULM. The only difference is being able to use the dome for games with Tulane.

I know when Skip was AD, he was insistent that the games be played in Tiger Stadium. The Superdome games were 3/4 LSU fans but Tulane got 100% of the take.

Tulane has a higher ceiling than them only by a slight edge but most of the time they belong in the dumpster with them.

Since leaving the sec Tulane has spent more seasons wallowing in the pit with ULL and ULM than being the clear cut number 2 team in the state.

I believe Tulane wanted the full take. I don’t think Tulane wants to play us.

1. They have their own stadium now and we would demand the dome

2. It allows for fantasy that they would have beaten us last year to live on. Which is a silly fantasy since once in a blue moon a team like them upsets someone in a bowl game.

Tulane demanded lsu play at yulman with a low gate since it only seats 30000
That makes no financial sense for lsu to give up a home game and lose millions on revenue
If Tulane wants to play in superdome than lsu would be more than willing to talk
Ole miss is playing Tulane in New Orleans this season at yulman

The consensus is the same it has been for years. If Tulane will give LSU all of the gates, and accept the rent-a-win payment, LSU will schedule them. But there is no way LSU is going to give up a home gate every other year. And LSU is not going to schedule one of their few precious home-away series with Tulane.

100% agree. With a 9 game conference schedule and one non-conference game against a high quality P5 school, that leaves only two other OOC games each year and those games will all be played in TS. I don’t have a problem keeping the money instate and rotating all of the La. schools through our schedule. Then go find a somewhat regional opponent to fill in the last game(Rice, USM, UAB, Troy, etc.)

In no way should we try to force a “rivalry” with Tulame.

I agree w/the OP.
1. It's viewed from the "outside" as a rivalry.
2. LSU wins 11 of 10 games.
3. Who do we play on Rivalry Weekend....Texas & A&M ends the present gig. LSU vs. ULM or UL will be a great draw, maybe 50 or 60K actual!
4. The new world will require membership in the Final 12. With 9 SEC games & as someone above said, 1 P5, thats 10 hard games. Wins will be important going forward. Playing a near rent-a-win the week before the SEC champ game & selection Sunday kinda levels the field in LSU's favor - I'm all for that.

Pointless unless they are willing to always come to Tiger Stadium. NOLA sucks and Tulane is still a bottom tier program.

We don’t need another cupcake game lowering our strength of schedule further. When we last played Tulane, I had four tickets go unused…no one wanted to go.

it would be a lot better than the likes of USL, Tech, NLU, and McNeese

I don't like any rent-a-wins but I'm just saying it would be better than what I listed above, they used to be a rival for us, and they used to beat us occasionally, whereas the above mentioned group can't give us much more than a quarter, quarter and a half of a game

I think we should go old school and play them every year. The reason we don't anymore is because of $$$. There was a dispute where LSU wanted a bigger payday for filling the Dome with Tiger fans and Tulane getting the big payday. Then I recall the discussion of two games at LSU then one at Tulane.

It's funny that every time this comes up here, there are ZERO weenie fans chiming in wanting to play LSU. The money issue is cut & dried, no way it happens with a home & home. As for being viewed as a rivalry, no one even from neighboring states of Mississippi or Texas has a clue about those games decades & decades ago. O. Miss is playing in N.O.as it needs the exposure there recruiting-wise. LSU does not & never will. It's the biggest in - state alumni base there is.

They should try that with Scotty, he isn’t as savy with the gate money as skip.

ever notice that at rich kid schools they almost never support athletics? the stadium would have a lot more people in it than with the Techs, USLs, NLUs, and McNeeses
