It would be amazing.

Perkins' physical size reminds me of Kam Chancellor. He was 6'3" 225 out of Va Tech and a member of the legion of boom (SEA). He was a fast, physical Safety and dominant at his position for about 6 seasons in the NFL. If the staff thinks he has the lateral mobility and FB sense to play the position or Star, go for it! Would love to see him and Toviano roaming around back there making plays.

I guess you didn’t watch the game. That game is a really really bad example if you’re trying to make a point
4 Solo tackles, 1 TFL no Sacks

watch it you can kind of figure out how much stuff’s different, plays are run based on where he’s at and it neutralized his impact plays
They literally ran right at him during the 4th.

He needs to accept the fact that he's a guy who comes off the edge in obvious passing situations. If he does, he can thrive in that role.

What? Are you still living off of 4 plays he made his freshman year, or are you living in the now?
Dude can't beat RBs on blocks. Was bodied this year on his blitz attempts. Go rewatch the Nicholls game and tell me you want a guy with one tackle.
If he doesn't come through clean on a blitz, he's a non factor.
Yep, as you and I are saying, he can't defeat blocks and wrecked such havoc his first year because the opponents didn't account for him. As far as some blaming the DCs that LSU has had for supposedly not utilizing his abilities, that is utter nonsense. They have tried rushing him off the edge and he hits a stone wall via a blocker. Dallas Turner....he is not! Multiple DCs also tried him in coverage and he was decent but no game changer. That is the problem about being a tweener with athletic ability. Some just look at the speed and don't look at the results. If there is ever a guy who looks fantastic in a uniform running around the field, ,it is Harold Perkins. But then they don't look at the Ole Miss stats from 2023 when he missed 5 or 6 tackles in the game. Great that he got close enough to miss all those tackles but couldn't finish plays.
No one has said he is a garbage player but once again, there is an obvious reason that LSU's defense has been better this season with Weeks on the field instead of Perkins...Weeks is a better football player.

After not playing a snap on LSU's opening two drives on defense, both of which turned into touchdowns, Perkins was the star of LSU's shutout performance in the second half. The freshman had a team-high five pressures and three hurries despite only playing 37 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Uh, you realize right that Perkins played against Alabama in the 2023 game, and Milroe ran wild in that game also. 2023 game Milroe 155 yards rushing 4 TDs.... 2024 game Milroe 185 yards rushing 4 TDs. Wow, really a lot of difference huh?

I don’t know what the consensus is, but I think he’s way better when he plays lighter. I think his freshman year spoke for itself, he was a heat seeking missile, pass rushing and containing the QB.
Sophomore year I think was super underrated. Teams schemed him out of the pass rush and forced us to drop him into coverage. Despite that he was very good outside linebacker in coverage and his pressure/sack numbers were pretty close to his freshman year.
Then this year I just simply don’t think it was a coincidence that he looked slow and impactful at his bigger weight. There was an interview he did before the season where he was bragging about how he eats soul food every day, and I think at the time it came off lightly, but it in retrospect really points to his falloff.
If I’m the staff, I’d look to get him back, get him down to 220, and let him roam again. I think his role is significantly more impactful when the players around him are better. That just simply wasn’t the case in 2023 and the beginning of this season.

Obviously its always a good thing to have talent on the roster.
But if he comes back, he needs to play somewhere he's comfortable and can be himself. Forcing him into roles he isn't physically suited for makes the defense worse.

If he doesn't fit in our defensive scheme then no. If they use him as an edge rusher, ok. Either way I think he is overrated and that the defense played better without him.

That's only because he played 200+ more plays as a sophomore. Or to put it another way, it took him essentially the equivalent of nearly 3 additional games to produce the same numbers he did in 2022. The raw numbers were the same, but the impact was FAR less.

Depends where his draft stock is at. If he's a high draft prospect then he should go get paid, especially coming off an injury.
Posted on 12/17/24 at 2:15 pm to KCSunshine
I guess okay? What has he really done the last two years? At some point, it lies at the player’s feet. I always thought he should be a FS or Star. Not a LB.

I think Perk should move on, LSU struggled to "find" his role for 2 yrs. probably for the best.

Yay-HEY! It's happening, isn't it?
