There are no excuses this year. This is the best shot at a NC we will have for a long time.

No Excuses.

A good season would be taking care of our number 1 goal. Winning the west

10-2, 11-1. Beat Bama and at worst Sugar Bowl.

That's Correct, they not only need to be undefeated, but also shut out every team.

This is correct - we have to win the West. Then we really need to beat the East champion to make the playoff.

After that, a NC would be fantastic, but that's a tough ask. As long as we play well and are competitive, I'd still declare the season a success with an SEC championship but a loss in the playoffs.

Hoping to take it all, though.

Nope. Sugar Bowl means we missed the playoffs. We need to win the SEC and make the playoffs this year. After we make the playoffs, I'm fine with whatever happens (assuming we don't just shite the bed) but we really need to make the playoffs.

LSU's schedule is considered top 3 in difficulty.

LSU is ranked top 6 in preseason guesswork.

a good season would be a berth in the playoff

a very good season would be winning the SEC west

a great season would be winning the SEC

winning a playoff game would be a spectacular season.

winning a national championship would be a dream come true, for Les, for Harris and for LF7.

Got to beat Bama.

Got to beat Arkansas.

I am well aware of this, but I am also a realist. We still have too many unknowns at this point. If we play to our abilities, then we'll be in a semifinal.

Meh. While I agree, not playing in the SECCG again would be disappointing, we could theoretically win the West with an 8-4 record(we were 5-3 when we won it '01) or go 11-1 with the only loss being a heartbraker on the road to an undefeated Auburn. There are just so many variables.

The team should definitely make winning the West a goal, it just shouldn't be the only criteria we fans use to base a good season on.

SEC champions and 4 team playoff

LSU fans tend to have unrealistic expectations, but given that this roster is loaded and returning 18/22, a junior at QB, the best RB in CFB, and a favorable schedule (OM and Bama at home) I don't see any reason why the fans should not expect to win the SEC.

Realistically,

Anything short of winning the SEC West should result in a new head coach.

SO, I would say winning the west is good, winning the SEC and getting in the playoff is great, if we win a playoff game or even the NC, I will jump back on the Miles bandwagon.

A good season is a win over bama and a win in a New Year's Six game for me.

You have those out of order.

if Bama goes undefeated and LSU is 11-1, LSU is in the playoff. Its only "good" because they didn't beat Bama.

That's a bit vague. New Years Six includes non-playoff games.

Are you saying if we beat Bama but don't make the playoff (i.e., we either lose the West or lose the SECCG) but make one of the New Years Six non-playoff bowls, that's a good season?

Our starters not getting arrested...

...or making the newspapers for any other dumb reason.

All the talent in the world is for nothing without leadership before the season even starts.
