What were your takeaways from the Defensive backfield?

I feel like the DL and LB units caused so many problems our DBs had the night off. But I'm sure I'm missing something with my untrained eyes.

Still depth concerns but Clemson is so bad we really don’t know anything about the team yet

Yea we moved the qb off his launch point. Looked like we were making sure not to get beat over the top

Our safeties are good

The biggest thing that stood out was the great communication pre-snap. Benefield looked in complete control lining guys up and communicating with everyone prior to snaps. It was extremely well coordinated all across the aboard. Besides the overwhelming speed and physicality, this was extremely impressive.

Paying attention to utilization it looks like Blake baker is gonna use dj Pickett as a matchup corner. He followed tj moore all over the field majority of the time even into the slot. When he face guys like cam Coleman and Ryan Williams expect Pickett to matchup with those guys.
Pj woodland was solid. Wesco got the best of him early on but he tightened up as the game went out and tackled well in space.
Jakeem Jackson played a damn good game
Safeties were flying around. Spears and benefield looked great

The only play I really noticed as a negative was the Clemson RB wheel route that was wide open. Who didn't pick him up???

Hard disagree. The execution of everything was flawless. Idc if we were playing Southern, that performance was impressive.

PJ is going to get picked on…. Hopefully he holds up.

Seems like Michael Turner has fell off the face of the earth.
PJ and DJ made plays though.
Jakeem Jackson, I seem to remember, dropped an interception

Bennefield was very good. Otherwise, the DBs just weren’t challenging enough to know much. Swinney hired a OC who was 10 years beyond his expiration date

Delane getting like run over in the mop up TD looked bad
Posted on 9/6/26 at 10:19 am to Tigerbait8
I saw that also. Even with the loud crowd they didnt bust anything from what I saw

all I know is that the major burns “tackle behind the line and fall forward for a 7 yard gain” era is thankfully over for good.

He's young. Benefield is a stud

There was a bust in the first half but the QB pressure caused him to get rid of it

When not much to talk about with corners / safeties it’s a good thing
LK said it presser they started playing a bit softer, not wanting anything over the top.
Think we good there
Most impressive play all night was Ross interception, while dropping into coverage
We definitely couldn’t do that last year & I’m not sure many in CFB this year can

He laid the wood a play or two before that. I think he will be alright. Just need to coach him up on proper technique. He has the speed and power.

We have three SEC caliber corners. But we have some young guys who will develop over the season and provide depth. Also, we have depth at safety, so that helps.

You expect to beat FCS schools by these margins when your team is VERY good. This is Clemson. It’s not like we just hung 50 on Nicholls State. You should be excited
