There’s no reason to believe that we would have beaten them with Walker in the CWS Finals other than us being biased LSU homers.

UF was the second SEC series of the year. It was in G'ville. We won G3 that Walker started and he was a much better pitcher in May/June than March. The G1 loss was 0-1 in a classic pitchers' duel (Lange vs Faedo).

Why do you think we couldn't win 2/3 in Omaha with Walker in Faedo out?

USC went on a hot streak, beat Florida, blew out MS State, took 2 from LSU and then hung 21 in the championship game.
That was the CWS that prompted the first round of bat changes from 2 3/4 -5 to 2 5/8 -3. We hit 8 HRs in the opening game against USC before they came back to win those two later. It was also when the term “Gorilla Ball” was first used.

ETA: Not only did they hang 21 in the final but Arizona State scored 14. It was ridiculous.

89, 90,92, 98, 13, 15 we’re all incredible teams that were equals to the teams that won but came up short because it’s hard as shite to win it all

Why we lost was losing game 2 when Walker go hurt, having to come through the losers bracket, and then facing Florida's top pitchers with Lange never seeing the mound

Why we lost was an umpire interjecting himself into a game and sending the tying run back to third on a ticky tack baserunning interference on Slaughter, when Florida was conceding the run to turn two, which they did. But then the ump decided he wanted to decide the game rather than letting the players on the field do it.

1998 easily.

This without a doubt. Should have had a three-peat.

1998 is the answer but the one that traumatized me the most was Ben McDonald’s grand slam ball.
