I expect us to be in a position to contend - at least be in the conversation - until the last few weeks of the season. For example, despite our two earlier losses, if we had beaten Bama (which we should have, and we would not have lost to Arky if we beat Bama), then we would definitely have been in the conversation still. And we should at least play for the title every few years. I'm very happy with Miles' record.
And I'll grant him the occasional 4 loss season.
People don't realize how hard this is. Expectations are skewed because Saban is a "god" and we once had Saban so we must be god-like. There are a LOT of high-end college football programs. They can't all win every year. LSU is one of the top 7 or 8 programs, but those teams all have the same expectations. A team like Bama that can reload and win it all in any given year is an outlier. We can aspire to reqch that level, but so does every other top program. And some historically have more of a "right" to that than we do. And I don't have to list the teams that are historically high and mighty who are struggling to reclaim even mere respectability. Look at last year - we had Mett and surrounded him with a few offensive superstars. We lost a few close ones, but that very EASILY could have been a 1-loss season and a potential title. But there's a little luck that is required as well to win it all. If it were as easy as the "fire Miles" crowd thinks it is, everyone would be doing it. So I'm happy with pumping out 10 win seasons, with a legit shot each year as the season end nears, with the occasional bad season, and the occasional title game.

Ok - well you know that this means not giving some of the younger guys like Harris a chance if they frick up in their only opportunities right? You're okay with that?

I'm not following you on this.

I'm of the opinion when you have a young QB that you're forced to rely on it's very helpful to let someone spell him a series or so to let his thoughts settle.

Examples: Hodson in '86 and AJ arguably played his best all year after Brandon played a series vs Wisc.

There were ample opportunities for Mett to play in '11 that were squandered away as we "preserved 35+ pt victories." Brandon should've been playing some every game this year.

Yeah but the younger QB you haven't seen and when you do see him and you see 1-2 fumbled snaps a game and a couple of ints vs a guy that doesn't turn it over, you're goin to go with the guy that hurts you the least as opposed to a guy that has more potential that isn't quite ready. ESP when you are forced to play WRs that definitely aren't ready.

Maximum the talent we have on the team. With our recruiting base, this should make us consistently competitive in the conference and nationally.

My expectations are high every year. Maybe I set myself up for disappointment, but I expect to be let down. I expect a boring offense. I expect , and get , a great effort from our tigers. Lastly , I expect to say the words, " there's always next year"

I used to expect going to the SEC Championship game on a regular basis. I don't anymore.

Define regular basis.

Bama has played in one the past 4 years. As has LSU.

I expect LSU to field a team that is NEVER bad. Naming a record is arbitrary because of schedule variances.

IE, we had three TOTAL patsy OOC games this season. Teams that couldn't beat us if we shot an O-fer in SEC play. Had we made the error of scheduling one more solid OOC team, not good, just solid, we may well be looking down the barrel of a 6-6 season. THAT is fricking BAD at LSU.

And, I expect that LSU should NEVER field a COMPLETELY inept unit on either side of the ball. Up and down years? Yeah. Total farce? Never.

So far, Miles has fielded at least one total farce defense and arguably 2-3 total farces on offense with this one being some sort of special joke on LSU fans.

To add to my earlier post. I mean seriously. This may be the worst major offense I've ever seen a team field and manage to get ranked. The worst of the JJ/JL years was AWESOME in comparison.

The bar of my expectations has been significantly lowered with each passing season of Les' shenanigans. I have actually gotten to the point where I am surprised any time we complete a pass. It's become like watching my kid play biddy basketball and bank in a three pointer and the wife and I cheer wildly at the sheer amazement that it went in.

That's nothing like what I remember of Hodson and Guidry in '86 (or AJ/BH vs Wisc) so we're disconnecting on something.

Why are we "forced" to play WR's that aren't ready? And if that's the case, do we have any TE's that might be ready?

As long as Les is the Coach I expect to Lose to Alabama every year until either Les is gone or Saban.

All the other games are a toss up
