He didn't even have a special teams coordinator.

But hey, we should've been 11-2, so stop disrespecting O!

doesn't matter how well he recruited if Saban beat him in recruiting. When I say at a high level I mean beating your opponents in SEC West in recruiting regularly.

5 teams on the schedule this year finished with a higher ranked class last cycle. 2 from the west, 2 from the East and Miami.

That's my thing with him. He didn't mention not having a kicker until LSU lost. What team was he watching practice for 2 years?

It's almost his main concern was going around lobbying for the job, not what he would do once he got it.

Here comes the "special teams coach doesn't coach kickers" crowd.

Miles gets fired for losing on the road to Wisconsin and a last second loss on the road at auburn...

A season later O gets his shite pushed in by mississippi state and loses at home to troy but O might be coming into his prime

What makes you say this as if it has been proven already

Surprised Ree hasn't come and posted articles how he fortified the lines as proof he isn't the same coach.

Or show a quote where he says he will no longer meddle and will delegate with ensminger cause he has faith in him and that they're on the same page and since hes known him forever hes more comfortable which is proof hes a changed coach.

One coach had 12 years and 3 Ocs, was almost fired prior to Wisconsin opener and promised change. Also had a history of clock blunders.

The other coach bombed at Ole miss then proceeded to go 11-4 as an interim.

Big difference

I guess Orgeron has to get some credit for identifying problems and making changes even if they were hires or holdovers that he decided on. I hope the changes work out, but I don't think it's fair to say that he either is or isn't the same coach that was at Ole Miss just yet.

people on this board are foaming at the mouth to be right about O. It comes thru in the negative posts. Simply saying "I want LSU to do good!!!" is does not mask anything.

So to you it's not possible to want LSU to win while realizing that the guy charged with that responsibility is woefully inadequate as a coach?

On paper, Miss State is as talented if not moreso than LSU

No. No they aren’t. Sorry, you don’t get to make up your “recruiting rankings”. There are actual professionals who do this for a living and the consensus is that we are the #6 most talented team and MSU is the 25th. That’s a large gap.

Deal with it and GTFO of here with that bullshite.

But it is fair to say that he promised he would let his coaches coach and he clearly didn't do that last year so its more likely he hasn't learned and is the same coach than him being a different coach.

I would certainly agree and would take it a step further and point out that he did the same thing previously. I think it's all relevant until he proves it on the field with no bad losses. I feel safe in saying that 99% of us hope he does that this year.

I hope it does too and that Ensminger makes O look like a genius. But I'm still very skeptical

Mind-blowing to me that this still needs to be spelled out. The O sycophants are a dense bunch.

I'm thinking most of them are new to the board/havent really been following LSU closely for too long

the problem w that "overall" theory (team vs team) is that NOT ALL PLAYERS play, so teams need to be evaluated by position and
starters vs starters. Also, experience plays a part.

From my 50 years of watching football I will tell you that "recruiting rankings" are often wrong.

One coach had a natl champ to his name and played for another.

One coach was literally the worst coach a historically bad program had ever had.

Big difference.

Oh by the way. If miles is coaching the rest of 16, LSU beats florida and has one more win than they did with O.

Big arse difference.
