Because the media reads the rant and that's the pulse of LSU football in their opinion.... Currently, this place doesn't believe he is. They have people actually wanting to go 6-6.

I guess that's possible, but I went back and looked at the schedule and based on our talent and how the schedule lays out I have an expected baseline of 9 wins leaving questions marks for the Auburn, GA and Bama game. We have one win at Auburn since 2000 so it is a huge challenge against a team that beat both NCG participants. That leaves those two. They are both at home so maybe we pull off an upset over one or both. Who knows. If Burrow becomes the QB we hope it could happen.

Simply put, I think talent wise we are better than the other 9 so why not expect wins? That leaves the other 3 for our coaches to find a way to beat.

So anyone on either side of the O equation that wants to discus this I'm ready.

Mind-blowing to me that this still needs to be spelled out. The O sycophants are a dense bunch.

The conference is still waaaaay down from where it was 10 years ago when Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and LSU were good enough to destroy each other equally and you had Arkansas and Ole Miss with relatively decent teams from time to time, and Alabama had just hired Saban.

People don't realize just how terrible the conference is overall right now compared to 10 years ago. Miss State lost to South Alabama very recently, LSU lost to Troy, Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, Vandy, Ole Miss are all sucking right now.

If Orgeron was going to have success at LSU, this is the opportune time.

You people are insane.

I, as well as every other person critical of the Orgeron hire, would LOVE to eat crow as we watch him dominate on the field.

All we want is to win at a high level consistently. I don't care who we hire as long as they do that.

Ask yourself though, if Orgeron needed time to establish his system and put his stamp on the program, what would that even mean? What is the process that Orgeron needs time to install?

All I can tell that is really unique to Orgeron as a head coach is that he wants to make sure he has overloaded depth on the DL (sometimes just equates to bodies not elite talent on DL) and he wants to go hard after transfers in the offseason.

On the one hand Ogeron does, I guess, deserve some credit for keeping the season from going completely off the rails after the Troy loss. He's right. Things could have gotten much worse. But couldn't you argue it was his fault (at least partially) that the season had to be "redeemed" in the first place?

It's kind of like celebrating how good of a guy/husband someone has become after cheating on his wife. The opportunity to redeem himself only occurred after HE knowingly chose frick up. Vs. Troy, Ed knowingly inhibited his OC, which in large part let to the loss and broken relationship between the coaches.

I'm an LSU fan. Thus, I'm hoping beyond hope that Ed becomes the greatest coach in LSU history. I think it would be a terrific story. But it seems like every article praising Ogeron is basically one of him redeeming himself from mistakes or bad circumstances. He learned from his mistakes and matured after being fired at Miami following and arrest for drunkingly head-butting a bar manager. He learned from his mistakes and matured after the Ole Miss disaster. He got the LSU job because he had learned from his past coaching mistakes. He redeemed himself in the 2017 season after interfering with the offense lead to an embarrassing loss vs. Troy.

Is that going to be the theme of his LSU tenure? It's going to take losing a game he shouldn't, to then take the steps to "save" the season? I don't know if there's a better recipe for inconsistency

From the article:

quote:

He is coming off a career year. It marked the first time he finished above .500 in a full season.

Let that sink in.

In that sense, Orgeron was college football's sort-of loopy uncle. You'd trust him to watch the kids for an afternoon but not into the next day.

I will start a thread calling myself a dumbass and in all bold font saying how wrong I was and how horrible of person I am if Ed Orgeron starts winning 10+ consistently.

Period. Would be happy as hell for that to happen. I will shout from the frickin' mountain tops how stupid I am if it happens. Would be glorious.

I would do the same. I’ll never like orgeron (the man) but if he wins 10 games consistently I will admit I was wrong about him being a terrible coach. And be happy LSU is once again relevant

It’s mind blowing that the O haters insist on looking at the negative side of every aspect of Lsu football. I like to look at the positive side. Bottom line is no one knows what’s going to happen this season. More this year than in past years. Which is why the analysts can’t seem to read this years team.
