Kiffin is my first choice, but based on what I heard yesterday, we will be shopping for a coach in the bargain basement. Kiffin won;t be found there.

What I want to know is how we plan to get him here before the portal closes, assuming Ole Miss doesn't collapse and makes the playoff.

My take is that it's going to happen. I think Lane wanted it when O got it, amd I think he wanted it when Kelly got it.

Why? Because Baton Rouge is so nice.

Eventually, some big program is going to be smart enough to stop paying these coaches so much money.

I wouldn’t hold too much weight to what GOV. Landry is doing. I am told this is not going to drive anyone away from taking the LSU job.

correct. it is not. we just have chicken littles melting here like snowflakes throwing a tantrum.

LSU isn’t going to get kiffin. According to the governor, lsu isn’t signing long term contracts and it will be incentive base. So you think Kiffin will give up 9.5 million a year guaranteed plus incentives for 6 years? And he’s probably will get a raise from ole miss to keep him

Kiffin literally said Monday there is too much money in CFB & these contracts are ridiculous

Also Landry is making a talking point for Hannity, he will cheerlead whatever the new AD/Pres/BOS decide

It will take 15 mill a year for lane. He turned down 13mill from Fla already.

Kiffin at $13M per for 5 is my best guess

this is my uneducated guess. add that a title = highest paid. add for every playoff year, you can add one year to the contract.

I think the "quiet option" is Jeff Brohm.

Landry has zero bearing on what Todd Graves, and Lipsey and the rest of the check writers want to spend. If you don’t realize that Landry is a clown you never will. Billionaires don’t listen to idiots like Landry! Lane will absolutely get hired

That's true.

But LSU is not the only school would be willing to pay him tens of millions of dollars to coach football. Which means he can get paid a lot to coach at a school in another state with reasonable assurance that state's Governor won't go on TV/social media to criticize his program and/or take action behind the scenes that further his own political agenda at the potential detriment of the coach's program.

The donors will pay what they will pay. But, at minimum, Landry is tacking on a knucklhead premium to the coaches' asking price. That is, Kiffin (or any other high demand HC) would say "you'll have to pay me a little more to work in the same state with that buffoon". I PROMISE you, the actual money people want Landry to STFU because all he's doing is raising the cost of doing business for them.

I’m just going to say, you’re going to lose a lot of credibility if it’s not Kiffin

I’d assume nobody knows anything right now
